Companion planting?

Is it a thing indoors?
Just wondering if anyone does it ?

for my veges outside I plant marigolds and herbs to keep insects at bay but what about in my indoor grows does anyone see any merit to sticking the of basil or two in the grow for defense?

I see not a thing in the world wrong with it! Another member on here has an indoor garden, supplemented with a couple of girls. I hadnt thought of herbs as a natural defense.. you got my squirrell running in wheel now!

Ya, but this is more a question for the organic section. Lots do it there and you'll probably get more responses. I've been experimenting with white clover in my houseplant soil, but haven't added it to my main pots yet. They just have rice hulls as a mulch so far.

but remember your better to do cover crops for organic and more bigger pots if u get what I mean.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm about to sprout som Cilantro, Basil, and Dill (Lol CBD) as companions for my indoor this summer. From what I've looked into these should help with repelling aphids and spider mites. Plus they're all pretty tasty so why not use that little extra veg space for them.

During the fall and winter pests aren't really a problem where I live but the summers are brutal. We'll see if it's helpful or not.

Is the OP asking about cover crops or companion plants, those are two seperate things if I'm not mistaken.

yea if so that's a different route but usually their wanting to grow it in the same pot but I could be majorly wrong bongsmilie

Just a general insight I've just noticed a few unwanted pest in my indoor grow I've neemed it but I'd rather look into some plants that may prevent them also bringing some tasty herbs for pizza along for the ride.

Just curious not wanting to start a war

Stay away from basil. Its well known to be an absolute spider mite magnet. Garlic, dill, chives - those are all great companion plants to help repel pests.

The marigolds are great too but when used as defense line. The roots plant a major role.

I grow with cover crops. I have found dill works great to keep some pests away? As well as found spider mites love red clover, which is a good thing because I use the clover as a indicator plant to let me know when I have a problem. Same idea works with many different pests
