a male plug is the two pronged end you plug into an outlet! and splice is cut the coat off the wire (unpluged from the wall!!! ha) and connect one of the computer wires to one of the plugs and so one with the other side! hope this helps, i am baked my friend!

It's actually easy. Take some power adapter for something around 12v. It's running a DC current not AC like your house is. If you wire it straight into a wire and plug it in, it will burn the motor in the fan.. so that's bad news..

Just take your red wire from your fan and attach it to the Positive wire on your adapter, and the black wire from the fan to the negative. Good luck! :joint:

lol ok i bearly made my new grow box and i used computer fans one for exhaust and for for fresh air and dam they work like a charm...

ok just get the fan and cut the wire in the end it should have 2 cables a red(positive) and black(negative) so you read how many volts is the fan and you try to find a perfect home charger and look in the back and read how many volts for the output if it matches the one for the fan or its a bit greater then you can go ahead and use it...you do the same thing just cut the wire in the end and you should see a red and a black if not then the plastic around the wire should have dashes (positive) and one should have a straight line(negative) so you just match them and connect them to your fan red with red and black with black and make sure you tape the wires with electrical tape or good tape so it wont cause a shortage later...and bam plug it in your power outlet and the fan should be running like a charm...

i have 2 12volt's fans that i removed from cp's and i have them plugged to a energizer charger 16volts and it runs them perfect and they dont take much space ;)

Thanks everyone for helping, I just hooked up a fan from a ps2, even though it is a shitty fan. I am probably going to go buy another one from bestbuy.

trust me they are perfect they are all 12volts like i said just make sure you have a charger that is atleast the same volts or more if not it will not be blowing air

What's with all the splicing and making things hard? Get a computer power supply... duhhhhh. They plug right into the wall and then the fans plug into the power supply. No need to make things difficult.

And remember, Mount the intake fan near the bottom, and of course the exhaust fan near the top. Good luck bro :)

Yeah that's what I'm going to do with my big box! But for a micro PC grow.. There really isn't enough room! You really need every inch of space in the box!! :joint:

Even in a pc box you can run a laptop ps and connect a fan or two. Very little requirements.

When i built my latest pc, the cpu kept getting too warm, so I got a crazy pc fan, its called a delta and it moves a serious amount of air. 220cfm.
