condo organics?

Just got some more goodies from ups! So is it time to get mixing

(previous recipe cut in half below)

• 4 large bags Roots organic by aurora
• 12.5-25 lbs earth worm castings by Roots organic
• 2.5lb Down to Earth blood meal 12-0-0
• 2.5lb Happy Frog bat guano
• 2.5lb Down to Earth fish bone meal 3-16-0
• .5 cup Dolomite lime
• .375 cup epsom salt
• 1/4 cup azomite (Trace element)
• 1 Tbs. powdered Humic acid
• (since RO) 1/4 cup powdered Cal/mag (only thing not pictured/purchased)

Would you go organic in containers chemical fertilizers had been used in

The white stuff is good right? Still learning what all this is,.. but i remember subcool saying that's what you wanted to see in one of his weed nerd videos. Does it usually happen this fast?
The smell reminds me of the nearby mushroom houses when i was a kid, oh the manure they would dump into those places!



So i mixed about 3 days ago, and have added no water. I left the lids off the first night, then i realized probably be a lot better closed. So they were shut for 2 days, and this morning its 45F outside and I'm thinking they'd cook better inside. So dragging those 2 containers to the grow room, where its warmest and the handles wet the whole way, I'm thinking wtf i live in the desert where'd all the damn h20 come from?,.. when i get it in there and pop the lid the whole underside is wet, and white stuffs uh growing all over the top of the soil.
Do i mix it anymore or just let it cook for 3-4 more weeks? Stir all that white stuff in or no?

I can tell you what I did. At first, I had a few food safe barrels which I filled with water and left out. People kept saying that would not get rid of the chloramines. Based on that, I purchased a sediment and two activated charcoal filters (from Pure Water Products) and a test kit. I tested the water which came out of the filters and it had very little chloramine (the lowest registrable amount for the kit). I then decided to check the water in my barrels which had been left out for a few days and it registered the same. Since I felt that this filter setup was very reasonable AND I plumbed the filtered water into the cold water side on the kitchen and the hose outlet outside, I can get clean non-chlorinated water to drink for myself (so no more buying bottled water) and I don't have to keep barrels full of water outside. This is cheaper than RO, requires less maintenance and basically runs at the speed of the faucet. Anyway, I've been happy with the purchase.

Now why did the chloramines dissipate from the outside barrels? I'm guessing and it's only a guess that the organic materials which naturally find their way into uncovered barrels outside and time worked. I do know that chloramines can be removed with organic activity...the organic material binding to the chloramines and "removing" them from the water. I can't tell you the mechanism, merely give you my results.

Hey jcmjrt, thanks for the input. I forgot to mention i actually figured out my RO situation. I'm under 50ppm once again. One of my last crazy hydro ideas had unfiltered water (with more pressure behind it than the RO puts out) feeding back into the RO holding tank. So only half was getting filtered. After looking up where i live i'm not worried about chloramines. To get rid of all the chlorine though, I just put a 10 gal tote under the sink for water holding.
