I have to say, i did not expect to see a thread like this, this afternoon. I do think the op kind of asked for the confederate battle flag posts with a somewhat aimless first post that ostensibly seeks, in large part at least, only to stir the proverbial pot. I'm a free speech proponent so fly whatever flag you want, but be prepared for social judgments to be cast upon you. if this doesn't matter to you, fine.

thank you, this thread should probably fade away. i think people will get offended because they think an attack of confederate flag waving is a mockery of their heritage, and that is not the case. It was just an attempt to educate everyone of the bad things associated with the symbol, such as real racism.

i should take a big chill pill, realize that not me nor anybody is able to fix the problems of the world, and just concentrate on gardening. worrying about this stuff is probably killing my heart.

There was a redneck with a big 4x4 that use to drive by my place everyday with a big rebel flag waving out the back.

The last few weeks I haven't seen it on his truck. My wife said she saw him at the gas station and he was all bruised up.

Guess someone around here (Wisconsin) didn't like him flying that flag.

I have been a rebel and an underdog all my life. I struggled and fought to get where I am. Nothing was given to me.
I feel that the flag reps my struggles even though I DO NOT have a flag, I dont display one and I would not shove it in someones face for no reason.

But tell me the flag stands for something I feel it does not stand for and tell me I cant wave it and tell me I am worse then everyone else and thats when the little rebel in me pokes up and says

I spent 6 years of my life doing a job at times I fucking hated all so that I can stand for what I believe my country represents and for the good of my fellow country men, women and family's. It blows my mind when I see people type shit like this because the exact thing I want to ask them is "What have you done for your country to try to make it a better place for you, your family and friends?" Instead I hear the absolute contempt people have for their country like a bunch of spoiled kids who resent their parents. They would rather sit with their arms crossed and let others try to fix it for them. Yea the USA has some issues to work through but we are no where near over yet.

As to the Confederate flag. It represents a way of life, Pride and values. It has nothing to do with racism. Kinda like there are assholes who fly the American flag and say stupid things that make us look bad but they do not represent the USA as a whole. Same thing goes with the people who fly the confederate flag and tie in racism. That not what the flag is about. The flag just has a bad stigma associated with it.
