Ok so the kush is dry and cured, firstly the smoke is AAA+ with a very distinctive kush taste and a long lasting intense cerebral high.

I am 110% convinced that growing the same strain under LED's as opposed to HID produces a much higher quality of bud. A friend of mine grew the exact same plants (same mother) under 1000W HID and the bud he grew isn't really even close. I know this seems hard to believe as most of us are tried and true HID growers but I saw it first hand. The HID bud was airy in comparison to the dense LED bud. I am pretty sure that he had some heat issues as I have grown this same strain under HID and had the same problem with heat and airy bud. I am having my pal take some pics of the HID bud for comparison so you can all see it for yourselves...

The LED bud is very dense and coated in sugar. From the 24 plants that I grew the total dry cured weight was a very impressive 27oz / 6g. That is damn near 1g per watt and damn impressive.

If you want my opinion, LEDs are great for my purpose. I believe that the medicinal quality of the bud I just grew is far superior to what I have grown in the past with HID. This is most probably due to the non heat issue and lack of wasted light. I am a believer in this technology and highly reccommend growing medicinal marijuana using LEDs.

Nice!!!! I have been watching this grow only for about a month, but it's probably the best LED grow i've seen so far. I have been tuned in, hoping you get good buds. I have grown with LED, and my next grow will be LED and HPS combo. Well done, and good up the good work!

Im working on a series of 240W LED in with 3 150W HPS and 2 240W LED's, one after the other. I love the 1000W HPS with the 500W LED so far. Thinking about mixing the LED's with Halides instead, more UVB then. All of this has to wait until these grows are done though. Another month or so to wait, LED's work great, HID's work great, why not mix em right?

I think where LED and HID really make sense is if you are having trouble maintaining a warm enough room which actually can be a problem when its -17F outside (which it is here right now). I've seen a few growers on this forum and other forums who add heaters and all I can think is if you have to spend the power on heat use something that's gonna throw light while doing it.

The problem is keeping the room warm during the night hours... you can't warm up the room with light when you're on 12/12. I use an energy efficient space heater that kicks the room up to 70 degrees each time it starts to drop. Haven't noticed more than a few bucks a month on my electricity bill.

Precisely why I got HID and LED, 1500W heater? yeah right, I got a getter way to spend KWh

nice results with the led but the true question is does the led compare with a hps in my opinion if you want good results never use hid lighting atleast not for flowering.... have you ever used hps for growing if so how does it compare to the led also you got to think about the price hps is a 1/4 of that of a led.

Not when you factor in the expense of dealing with heat, electricity used, infrared signature concealment, equipment life, etc. There are good LED lights for <$300 that will grow a nice closet full of good bud.

ya i wana see it to. still i have to say hps is the way to go, my 150 watt hps cost me 7$ a month 250 watter about $14 on 18/6, a bulb every second grow cost $15-20, heat is not a problem if you have a desk fan, and as far as infered signature its not a problem if you either have a small grow or if your legal the feds are not looking for the kid with 8 plants in his closet they want the guy growing 50+..... just my opinion.

Do your own fact checking if you are truly interested. Talk to Hudsonvalley82, Kaptain Kron, Kush Groove, etc., for testimonials.

You won't see one one this site, I've looked, this is the most successful LED grow I've seen on RUI. I posted some 400w HPS pics earlier in this thread and the LEDs were keeping up, I stopped posting the comparison pics, as they would have been inflammatory.

Your light can't hold a candle to a 240w Blackstar. If you were using a comparable, 400w hid system, my argument holds-up.

And don't kid yourself, plenty of people have been busted for eight plants, or less.

Any body touting the benefits of low heat signature is an LED salesman.

You haven't looked thoroughly enough. There's plenty of impressed growers who have used both systems.

The truth is what it is. Its not a pissing contest.

Yea, a lot of LED's work really really well. Just as well as anything else. Please take into consideration that growing with LED is a touch different than HID and it takes some getting used to. Also, take into consideration that, just like HID, that it really depends on the grower. Perhaps you saw a grow from a person that is learning rather than a graduated MJ grower.

I'll give you one thing, LED's are basically the same IMHO, I see grows from blackstars, Ledgrowlightsdirect.com, Haight, Kessil, so on and so forth, and the difference seems to be the price tag. There are small differences, but I can't draw any conclusions due to different grow methods, environments, genetics, seed/clone condition, so on and so forth. However, the conclusion I can draw is that LED's work. They work just fine, and have a firm niche in the grow community. You can't tell me that every PC cab grow couldn't use a good UFO or Kessil.

For my purpose it is the perfect compliment to my HID system. As I get my crops in I am transferring to small HIDs (250W) mixed with 240 LED's. 1000W per room, light is spread out better, and the HID's provide the heat I need to keep my temps in the high 70's. I would have to use 1400W per room to achieve the same plant count (at least).

Here's what I love about the LED's and this forum will see if I am right or wrong in a month or so, but I believe that LED's (flowering UVB models) are best mated with 7500K Metal Halides for optimum flowering. The Red will be there, and seeing as how MH give off a lot more UV than HPS, coupled with the UVB from the LED's I can't see how that wouldn't blow up trich production.

You just have to think outside the box a little.
