confused about cloning :S

so when i clone whats the right way to do it?...
my plants have the main stem and then the normal branches growing out of them and inbetween these branches smaller ones are growing diagonally...
so what i wana know is can i take a cutting from the main branches or can i only take cuttings from the diagonal ones which will develop more leaves????

iv read the FAQ countless times but what do people think is better cloning with water or cloning in soil with hormone?

Try it both ways. See what works better for you. Once you find your style you will be cloning like crazy.

i cut some on 2-17 and the clones in water not roots yet and the ones in rooting compound rooted in10 days.

the clones i took from the main branch ( cut the plant in half ) took a lot longer to root compared with the 1s from the node stems
