Hey y'all,
Give this one a go.
This happened two summers back as well and I never figured it out. I know this sort of thing generally goes in the plant problems section but I've always trusted the organic guys to know what's going on.
-Outdoors
-10+hrs full sun
-fully organic, complete soil
-soil ph 6.5
I'm inclined to believe it is a pest or disease. Hope someone else has had this issue.
The sun was hitting the leaves here from the side making them look like parts are lighter in color. The leaves are actually a very healthy green throughout..minus the brown spots. Pic was taken an hr before dark.
The plant in the pic was planted in my starter base, allowed to grow to around 8" outdoors (spotless, healthy plants) and then four days ago they were transplanted to a further amended version of that starter base in a different location to finish out for this outdoor season. When I looked at them today..brown spots

get a flashlight and shine it through the underside of the leaves, that's pest damage,
Leaf hoppers can do that type of damage, but that damage is usually in tiny areas at a time.
Shit it's hard to tell, the light in the pic is kinda bright, I can only see tiny specks on the one leaf, the others I cant see well enough.
Did you spray them? Could be sun-damage from the water if so, but that's not the little holes that i'm referring to.
Sorta looks like larger spots, but again, that's the picture..
I see two different things here.
----edit--- ok, I adjusted my computers screen.
That looks like the bottom leaf got a little leaf-hopper damage, you can see it clumped together (or another transient pest), I don't worry about transient pests, it's pointless. It's the colonizing pests you need to be worried about, outside it's typically aphids, russet mites, etc.
the other damage I can't tell, if I were to guess i'd say maybe they had water on the leaves when you moved them to a new spot, did you spray them?
Need more pics, and a lil more info

Thanks buddy,
I did water them in after transplant around 3pm on a sunny day. Didn't even cross my mind! I have been outdoors for years and never had any noticeable water magnification damage. I did however see a hopper on one of these little gals yesterday when I took this pic. I'll look further into what hopper damage looks like. Two summers ago when I had this same issue there was one common denominator in my soil, I used a local source of steamed bone meal in my soil. Possible pathogen?

it's possible I suppose, but honestly, maybe i'm lucky, but I've been growing since 89, and I've never seen any diseases or pathogen issues or anything other than the normal soil problems, or bugs.
NEVER seen any diseases at all.
Don't worry about the hoppers, they'll get ya no matter what. They are harmless, they just eat a speck of your lower sunleaves.
I've never seen them get anywhere near the buds.
I thin it's water damage.
if the damage turns almost a crispy whitish color, than that's water damage via the sun.
Again, no biggie.
BUT I would get a flashlight and shine through them, just to make sure you don't have any pinpricks or little guys under them.

Cool. Hope you are right.
