Containers for Soil Cooking

Hi everyone,

I'm about to get started on mixing up some soil for my next grow. I've read up a lot on different mixes and amendments and kind of have an idea about what to do there. But I'm still wondering about the actual container for "cooking" the soil (and what to do while it's cooking). Most internet sources do not go into detail about this.

I've seen it recommended to ensure aeration by drilling holes in the container. None of the sources on the internet show any pictures of containers with holes in them (just the plain unadulterated garbage bins). Is it necessary? Do the holes need to be all over the container?

And what do y'all do once the soil is moist and cooking? Some sources say stir it up, some say leave it and let the soil web form.

Any input is appreciated!

When you water, you should use a spray bottle, and do it in layers, like only fill up 1/4th the container(I use a garbage can) then spray with water, more of the mix , spray , more , spray , last bit, spray like mad, close container. Let sit 1-2 months.
