Control Your Cannabis

Just read an interesting article in the Feb/Mar 2015 Skunk Mag called "Control Your Cannabis." It's about light schedules and how the 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flower is a waste. It argues that you can use far less lighting time and actually improve both growth in veg and yield in bloom, thereby saving a ton of money an electricity.

The writer says he follows this sched:

Veg: 12hr on, 5.5hr off, 1hr on, 5.5hr off = total 13hrs of lights on.

Flower: 6hrs on, 18hr off.

He says this will give better growth and tighter nodes in veg + bigger/heavier flowers in bloom, while cutting electricity usage by 75-90%. And he explains why, along with his testing results....

His argument centers on the fact that weed has higher photosensitivity (better photosynthesis) at particular times of the day and can only use so much light.

Very interesting.... not only does it cut electricity, I can see how this might help with cutting down on heat problems that some people have.

I think gas lantern is when you start at 12 hours and shorten it by an hour every week. Ive heard the veg schedule called 12-1. I might try that in the summer when elec company jacks up my rates. It sounds like a good idea if 6 hours is enough time.

Oh, it says 6 hours on 13 off so you would have to reset the timer everyday or find one that has a 19 hour cycle, that would be a pain in the ass. I thought it said six a day.
