Cool Morning Pulse

Hi All! Has anyone tried what's called "Cool morning pulse" (aka Cool morning drop) as a method to reduce stem elongation during cannabis early flower stretch? This method was initially developed for greenhouse operators as a way to keep their poinsettias compact so more plants could fit on retailers shelves and to save the growers operating costs. For these growers, keeping night temperatures at or above daytime temperatures proves to be very costly so cool morning pulse was introduced as a very cost effective and effective alternative. This is how it works: night temperatures are allowed to be 10 or so degrees below daytime temperatures, then cold outside air is introduced into the greenhouse to drop the air temperature 5-10 degrees below night temperatures starting a half hour or so before dawn and kept that way for another 2-3 hours, after which day temperature is allowed to warm to regular day temperatures. Using that technique, it's been reported cool morning pulse is nearly or as effective at limiting stem elongation as is keeping the greenhouse night temperature at or higher that of day temperatures. I've tried it when growing Durban Poison in my small grow chamber (a 7 cu ft chest freezer in which I've increased the height by removing the lid, adding a 10 inch wooden collar to the top, then attaching the lid to the top of the collar). Durban Poison is a pure, landrace sativa known for it's remarkable height (and potency), and my results of utilizing cool morning pulse was very effective--it kept plant height on par with white widow or other mostly indica varieties I've grown. Of course, like other cannabis growers, I've found bright led light to be another tool in limiting vertical stretch. Anyway, has anybody else either heard of cool morning pulse or even used it? Just curious.

No very interesting tho should start a journal to see results for others who might want to try or grow with share results and such. Funny just stumbled on this and you mentioned Durban poison just grew this year and last. Amazing taste and energy. Guy said it was originated in a small African town called Durban.

Thank you. Oh yes tasty--especially in a dry herb vape. And what an energetic, fun high! This is my homemade grow chamber. It's not very big but it does the job. I don't think I have the time to do a whole grow journal. Maybe when I retire....

That's cool that's all I would need, also I grow mine outside would be nice for some winter hobby and some other strain to try out.

I have the capability to grow outdoors in summer but not the freedom so I must rely on stealth. I'm busy in the summer anyway so the current setup suits me to carry on inside in 3 of 4 seasons. The summer humidity would be murder indoors. To grow is a challenge in such a small chamber but I manage with six 1 gallon pots in there, and as it is in a working chest freezer climate control is pretty simple with the external thermostat. I do wish I'd started with maybe a 10 cu ft freezer but now that it's all together I don't feel like re-inventing it in a larger freezer. A couple grows a winter is all I need. It's just the two of us and vaping helps conserve the goods plus tastes so much better than a pipe anyway.
