Cooling 96"x48"x78" grow tent, 2 x 400watt hps

Im starting a new project with two 400w hps for flower in the above mentioned sized grow tent. My intent is to use the 5000 btu window AC unit I have laying around to cool it. I haven't received my tent yet but ive been brainstorming ways to utilize the AC unit in the tent, I know the frame is not sturdy enough to support the AC unit. I thought about using ducts to channel the air into the tent when the lights are on, but I think theres no way to control temp that way because the thermometer on the unit would be operating based on ambient room temperature and not the actual tent temperature. I already have a fan to move air around and an exhaust fan. My problem is getting the cold air from the AC unit into the tent efficiently Input, ideas, and solutions please.

I have an 8000btu portable a/c unit that ducting ran so my intake fan sucks in the cold air. I have to play with the ducting so my intake fan doesn't suck in too much air and cause a positive pressure. I want negative pressure. and I have my a/c set on 64*, and runs 12hrs continuously. 75* lights on and 73* lights off. :)

I like that portable A/C unit. Looks like a good investment I will price some units this week. Yes negative pressure for sure, thanks for the reply I really want my temps low 70's mid 60's if possible. Im on a search for the best purple phenos I can find and really want to lower the temps as much as possible to get the coloring from the plants

Not the best solution, but you could put a heating pad over the thermometer or a heat lamp...

make sure you buy the extended warranty on the portable ac. I bought a 5yr extended, plus the mfg 1 yr, I get 6 yrs of free replacement. :)

A 600cfm exhaust fan or higher can keep these tents pretty cool, even without A/C, especially if your only running 2 400's. Even when my HVAC went down a few weeks ago my temps never went above 83/84 degrees, and that's running 1800w in cool tubes....With A/C ducted to the tent I can keep it in the low to mid 70's with the lights on.
