Cooling issue

Hey everyone.

I've got a heat issue, I've got plenty of fans and ventilation, but it's still hot.

I was thinking some kind of air conditioner/cooler. Is there any one specific recommended for growing? The only ones I could find run a minimum on $150. I feel like there should definately be a cheaper way, but if not the price is not an issue. I just have no idea what I'm looking for.

If I had the funds I would get a 3 in 1 unit with heat, ac and dehumidifier. search ebay. They are portable.

Those 3 in 1 require venting the hot air back into the room to dehumidify, so you aren't cooling the room on "dehumidify". They're inefficient, too. I suggest vented hoods to remove heat from lamps. $150 for A/C is as about as cheap as it gets, you must be talking about a window unit?

Vented hoods will do wonders. It's hot hot over here. My temps never go over 81. Window unit runs very little.

I already have vented lights.

I read on here somewhere that intake should enter area as low as possible and exhaust located as high aspossible. This helped lower my temps significanly. I also directly cool my cool tubes outside. Next grow i will up my inlines to 8" to be sure temps are below the 85 mark. Made some Co2 generators to help while temps were high. Not sure if this rudimentry DIY helped or not. Without proper monitering equipment ist cant be proven either way in my case. Good luck

^ I did the same thing when I couldn't control the heat in my closet last summer. make 2 or 3 of those yeast and sugar co2 generators and set them up near your plants. not sure if it helped or not, but why not do it if it's so cheap?

As already mentioned in here the dehumidifier feature is kinda useless with these. That said I have one to deal with June-Sept temps as it gets too hot and it does the job for cooling (I didn't have the option or I would have gone with a regular window AC, they're cheaper and work better). Make sure if you get a portable unit, that it's a 2 hose system, the single hose one's don't work very well (tried it, scrapped it) and use more energy. While talking energy consumption, if you can, don't go too low-end, pay a little more up-front (for a lower energy consumption unit) and it'll pay for itself in one cycle...

I never see anyone here talk about where they exhaust their hot air to. where does it go? I grow in a tent in a closet. My tent can only be as cool as the closet that it is in. Thus I have to stop growing during the summer months because I live in hot ass florida and it gets way to hot with the lights on during the summer months. Im just getting my shit started now. But what should I do with all this hot air?

cut a hole in the top of the closet and run flex duct from the tent's exhaust directly into the attic. then bring cold air from an outside room into the closet near the tent's intake.
