Copper Hydroxide?

Hey everyone, what have you all heard about copper hydroxide products like spinout? I have seen plants grow extremely fast in pots coated with it, but my worry is that it may eventually peel off and contaminate the roots and then the bud. I am not even sure if this is possible though. Has anyone ever smoked any weed that has been grow in these pots? Spinout, the company who makes it, claims its not for use with fruit bearing plants. That worries me.

There are options to using chemically treated pots. One is called a Rootmaker pot. Right now I cannot recall other names but there are options. They basically do the same thing but they just do it in different ways.

They work very well for regular types of plants and also for bushes and trees so there is no reason they will not work equally as well for pot plants. I intend to try them unless I switch to hydro or aero like I have been considering doing.

smart pots! they are expensive though..
That I am most aware of. We own a pot-in-pot nursery that covers somewhere around 12 to 14 acres now and we only use them for select things because of their cost. They would show a monetary return but the initial outlay would be massive.

Thanks for the input guys, but I am not interested in the alternative pots. I am just curious if anyone has ever smoked weed that was grown in copper hydroxide coated pots. I have found some for very cheap and if there is no safety concerns then there would be no reason to search for an alternative.

If you cannot find a correct answer to your question and have any health concerns at all would it not be wise to then use alternative pots where it is known there are no possible health concerns?

Doing so would not at all be an injudicious thing to do.

Uncle Ben had some nice comparison root-ball pics in a recent thread about this.. Copper hydroxide/carbonate coating is good.. Its like FIM/topping for the roots.. Its really damn insoluble in water, so don't worry about unwanted mobility.. Thats why they use those compounds instead of plain copper, copper itself will mobilize enough to poison your soil in weakly acidic conditions..

Thank you born2killspam. I just checked, and you are correct, it is completely insoluble in water. Thats all I needed to know.

since it is not soubsable in water it might be worth trying. can you give us some details as to how this is beneficial to bud growth?

Roots kind of hate lots of copper to put it bluntly.. When they reach the walls they meet the copper, this causes them to retract and split almost as the roots themselves were topped as Uncle Ben put it.. End result is a dense rootball, and achieving that is step one to healthy high yielding plants..

Yep, as kill said the root meets the copper and splits. This process is technically known as root pruning. The thicker and more dense a root system is then the more efficient it is at utilizing nutrients and watersurrounding it. Its almost like hydroponic soil, or weed on crack, lol.

A ginsu style bread-knife run around the pot perimeter, is ironically also good for the plant.. Same thing, different route, but the copper is always on the job..

I started hydro (I even played with fish in the res.. [Sorry fishies, you were soldiers]):), then moved to soil.. Sadly I haven't grown dope myself for a while.. Got kids in the house at that 'no-go' age, and not living anywhere that I can grow outside an get a harvest without some risk.. It really sucks when you got other ppl relying on you to stay out of legal trouble..:(

Oh I still got friends.. No worries.. I can get away with stilling, so we trade (I can make some really nice liquor).. I don't smoke alot though.. I mean I smoke several times a day some days, but only a hit at a time, and if the effect diminishes I take a couple days off.. Being saturated sucks.. Its alot like nutes for plants in a way.. Less is more..:)

Yea, I get anxiety attacks when I get really stoned. I just like having a nice high. Smoking all the time can be diminishing too.
