copper pennies around plant stalk to deter slugs

I read that some people were putting copper wiring around the base of their plant stalks to slugs wouldn't climb up and eat the leaves...

I didn't have any wiring, but figured pennies might work...the pennies that were minted before 1982, since those ones are 99% copper

I still had a slug on one of my plants this morning...I'm not sure if it was there before I had put the pennies around the plants though...

Anybody else do this, with success?

i would stack up the pennies so they all touch.

you can get speaker wire and strip the plastic off the outside.

boom. copper cables.
