Correlation between fat stems and fat buds?

Does stem width correlate with bud width?

Hey folks, I've been wondering if anybody knows if there is any correlation between fat stems and fat buds. I'm currently on week 5 on our scrogged beauty but she spent alot of time in veg to fatten up her stem + fill out her scrog. I know most of the weight packs on towards the end of the grow but I'm wondering if her fat stems will have an impact on her yield. I've heard that you can never yield more than your lights allow. In my case, I am running a 600w HID but I'm also curious to see what the impact will be from having fatter stems.
It is my assumption that having strong stems = less stress for the plant during flower (after scrog and LST)
Having stronger cellular walls means more traffic of nutrients and water through the plant does it not?
I feel like im rambling at this point but I am curious. Any other thoughts on the matter?

2nd grow:
Organic Scotts OG, 5th week of flower, Scrogged, 600w

Unfortunately not, sometimes you get monsters on thin string bean stems and if you dont prop them up they will fall over and sometimes snap.

It logically makes sense that more cellular space allows for more growth but I will agree with King Arthur. I have not seen a correlation between stem and bud sizes.

Sensi Star is a great example that illustrates this is not the case. She'll put 10g colas on branches smaller than a #2 pencil gotta either scrog her or spend some good time tying things up. Chem 91 and Sour Diesel also come to mind.

On the flip side I'm giving Ghost Train Haze a first run and she has nice fat branches but I know there will be low weight on that sativa.

I thought that was why train wreck was named train wreck, because if you don't prop her up by the end she looks like a train wreck. Fat nugs laying every direction and a mess of bendy straw stems.
