Could I Grow Using

I am currently using
2 - 65 Watt (6500K) for veg
2 - 45 Watt (2700K) for flowering
in a small box area.

will this work?

How many CFLs do I need then for a decent grow? I'm not looking for a MASSIVE grow... just give me some advice to point me in the right direction.

Edit: Also not to mention I am only doing 1 plant...

Dude, thats is just fine, but you'll need more lights for flowering... Veg is okay.
But keep these ones close to your plant... otherwise they'll stretch.

Check my grow, I started off with less than you did.

you'll be fine man, look at the grow journal in my sig. 2 23w CFL's for 1 plant, vegging and flowering, 5.5 weeks into flowering ATM and looking awesome.

I only have 2 26watt CFL's on my plants right now for veg and in a couple days I'm putting them in flower, and only adding 2 more 26watts.

Okay so I might invest in another 2700K light along with the 2 - 2700K lights for flowering. And another 6500K light along with the 2 6500K lights for vegging.

Obviously they will be alternated or I will have another flowering room...
Does this sound like it would work? Thanks for all the help guys!

Yeah it'd work. Check out the link in my sig. I'm doing an ULTRA cheap grow. Sounds really ghetto but I've really only bought light bulbs from a store, everything else is the dollar store. And I'm only growing with 4 bulbs, from seedling to harvest.

So here is what I think I decided to do... this I think should work rather well. Here is a diagram. I will have 2 of these hanging over the plants, so thats a total of 6 lights, 2 - 2700K 42 Watt bulbs and 4 - 6500K 27 Watt bulbs.

This should definitely be a total around 12,000 lumens.

What do you guys think?

Edit: The picture says 27 Watt, but it's whatever you get the point.

Looks good, try to get an old table lamp from around the house, and stick a bulb in and let it sit on the side... Side lighting is very important for efficient growth, otherwise you'll end up having them stretch.

Thanks for all the help by the way. This should end up being a lot bigger scale than I was hoping for... I will probably do 3 plants now that I have the right equipment for it.

I will start a journal once I get them germinated.

Umm, you could go for a 13- 27 watt CFL.. I don't know where you live, but if there's a Walmart close by... invest $20 and get 8 - 27 Watt CFL's, you'll be more than good to go. Or even just get 4 more.. cuz the more the better. Try getting atleast 2 lights on the sides.

This is a pic of my setup... There are a 2 more lamps that I had to move out of the way.

But you should be fine with 2 on top and 2 on the sides.

Well the nice thing about my setup is I can put the lights on top of the plant of next to the plant. So... 3 lights will be giving light to the left side and 3 to the right side. And then I can take a electric strip and put 4 bulbs in there for a top light, but then the ratio of 6500K/2700K will be 6 6500K to 2 2700K would actually make about a 1:1 ratio in lumens. Thats a total of 8 lights with a ~1:1 ratio...is that really a good idea? Someone told me to do a 3:1 so I just want to make sure.

lol... The ratio of the spectrum does matter... during vegetation and flowering... but having extra light never hurt a plant.

How many lights do you have right now?

6 with a total of ~12,000 lumens in a 5 cubic foot space. So thats like... 2000 lumens/sqrft

Or I could do 8 lights = 16,000/5 = 3000 lumens/sqrft...

Edit: I am high, I should of just said: 6 lights, total of 200 Watts.

If you're going to use 6, might as well do 8. One socket can hold 4 lights, if you just use 3 Y sockets, so do that with 2 sockets. It's easier then too cause if you have 3 lights in one socket with only 2 Y sockets, it sits weird because of more weight on one side.

The black and white is the "top view". If you get what I mean...

If I do this I probably will have to keep the lights at the top of the box, meaning the plants might stretch during the seedling stages.
I guess the best answer would be for me to do 2 plants with 4 lights on top of each?
