Could I put a flourecent light on the shady spots in my grow room?

I have 1 1000 watt HID light in my grow room and the plants on the sides are shaded. can I put flourecents on the shaded areas.

Sure you can and they are well suited for that. Get them close to the foliage, like 2 inches.

Absolutely. this is sometimes refered to as side lighting. It's very common to add cfl's like this.

Get a bigger reflector.
