the 6 and 7 gallons are good, but they are not wider - they are taller.. I don't think I can go for any taller.. but I do have an idea of attaching the light directly to the top of the tent, gaining a few more inches then using books underneath my container to raise/lower
are there any other concerns for a 14 gallon tub? i dont mind spilling, because I'm going to buy 2. one that stays in the tent and one for dumping nute solution into, then disposing of and also creating the next nute solution, which is then water pumped into the one in the tent.
the only issue i saw with this method was that the tubing I used for the submersed pump was probably Vinyl or something and it seems to have reacted with the nute solution at some point.. some further research pointed me to make sure I buy "HDPE" tubing.

so I think I'll be ok as far as water spillage and proper tubing, but do you see any other issues using a 14 gallon tub?
probably make sure its HDPE quality as well.. but otherwise I think it would be really good for 1 large plant, main concern - roots.
the two buckets I had were pretty much FULL of roots.. had to cut the roots to get my pump/tubing/airstones out.
that's another reason I want to go with a large rectangular design, pump can sit on one side and 4 air stones in there would be amazing, but those still might have to sit in the center, right underneath the roots right?
