Could someone give some the lay of the land about growing for dispensaries?

I live in California and have a medical card. I'm getting into growing and I was wondering if someone with some knowledge could give me some basic info. Could you just go into a club with a sample and ask them if they want to buy from you? How much are clubs looking for, for example are they looking for just a few pounds every crop or much more than that, like in the 20-30 range? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Don't post if you don't know what your talking about please. And be honest, if it's a shady, cutthroat business like I think it might be, than tell me. Thanks.

bump!! i'm looking for this information as well. my main concern is to whether or not being a "producer" or "provider" would be a supplemental or primary source of income. i love this plant, and would love to love my job.

i can tell you that clubs are VERY picky about what they will buy. It has to be manicured perfectly and grown just right, over done with nutes, premie, not flushed properly are all big no no's. the clubs i've been to will only buy in whole pounds rearly more than 5(Supply and demand) and there prices are far from the numbers you want if your tring to make a living at this. Hope it helps good luck

So Barry it's actually very easy, not cutthroat at all. The quality has to be there and you should definitely know your strains. Honestly you need to pick a couple of collectives that you would like to do business with and talk to them, see what they like and would need so you even know if you can help them. Don't waste your time rolling into Collectives not knowing there vendor policy plus you will just end up giving all kinds of samples away for nothing. Also always ask to deal with a manager or owner to skip having to deal with 2 many people. As far as how much will they buy, I live in LB and I have spots that pick up ounces to pound it just depends on their volume. I think that's it any other questions let me know. Peace

I've been doing all this research myself and have found a very reputable collective to work with. I took some classes at MCC directory too. I actually got a call from a guy running a very successful delivery service from that class. I got my genetic from this collective then did my homework, did a grow and took in a bud. They were impressed but I wanted everything that I grew. Once I grew, I didn't want to smoke anyone else's stuff because I now know how hard it is to get good organic bud. I did another grow and recently took a bud in again. I almost didn't get out the door with it. I think the supply is much lower than the demand if you can grow what they want and do it well. They wanted ANYTHING I could bring them. I agree with what TooLong said.
