So I'm having watering issues with my plants - took some pics of them today and noticed something white hanging off of the bottom of the bucket.....picked it up over my head to look and....ROOTS!! I have a shit ton of roots poking out of the bottom of the bucket. My girls are in 3gallon buckets, how am I supposed to transplant them?? And what would I transplant them into???? Please help as my growth is stunted and leaves are cupping!!

how far away from harvest are you? if it's close then leave it be:if a few weeks for more are needed for harvest then transplant to a larger pot.

I still have a month of veg!! lol I just went out and bought some 6gal pots so I'll transplant and monitor the next few days.
Thanks for the response.

So I just finished re-potting my girls - check this out; Now one thing I did that I don't know if I need to worry about is when I flipped them over to put them in the new pot the top crumbled apart and some roots fell apart? I don't think I need to worry since this is what is sitting on the bottom...let me know your thoughts. 20150429_201054.jpg20150429_201645.jpg

What I like here is the whirling of the roots and the shiny silver color silver or white is really good, info to the grower....somebody doing it right at last
note: guys who grow in square pots don't ever understand this whirling thing and always loose out to un pinched roots from round pots...
practice this potting up, its a bitch at first, but depending on how matt the dense roots are ..one is expected to pull out those roots or at least loosing them some
I never do as they are never dense ...but you are OK....good balls
next time you got black paint ....spray paint them pots a dark color, as roots don't like light ....good luck

Drainage holes are a different story ...I have shit loads best with a 1/4" drill bit

Awesome, thanks! Here are some pics post transplant. Wish I saw your post before I did it I would have given them a quick paint job. IMG_3069.JPGIMG_3079.JPG IMG_3081.JPG I definitely have to drill some more holes in it I only have 5 nickel size holes on the bottom and 5-6 around the base - nickel size.

A recent temp test on my orange tree on my dining table showed me a temp of 50C/122F so having a white pot could be useful...?

I just test the temp of my soil and it is consistently 26C throughout. Not cold to the touch at all anymore. My leaves are sitting at a consistent 24C. Science tells us that black attracts and holds heat better than any other colour so who knows. I think that the only roots that would be affected by the light leakage would be those closest to the perimeter of the pot.....definitely something to look into. My next grow I'll do a side by side, one white, one black from beginning to end.
