DUDE you got to get this I just got mine and its great quality comes with both bulbs and is brand spanking new!!!!!! 400 watts comes withat a great reflector and a nice dual timer!! with shipping under $200 USD
High Tech Garden Supply
Hope this helps

Oh and the MH bulb puts out 38,000 lumen's
and the HPS puts out 55,000 lumen's so yeah there extremely great bulbs that come with it!!!
Yeah I looked at that, isnt that basically just a 400wat hps setup with a conversion bulb for MH? So you cant run the HPS and MH at the same time, thats basically why I really wanna use this Hortilux cause not only does it have all the Reds from the HPS but it has a shit load of blues and some yellows and stuff too that most HPS lights dont have and will be huge for my veg. I'm really not sure what to do. Let me know your oppinions everyone, I get off work in like 3-4 hours and im depositing my check and then going to try and buy my setup. Let me know!!! Im so nervous lol. Also ill have my digi camera back after work too so ill up some pics tonight, thanks everyone for all their help, mad props The Ganj Father and storzbickel. I also will be getting a PH tester and so mylar film, and most likely a Soil tester ... I will also probably be transplanting here soon. Hit me up with any feedback.

:peace:

well i think what you checked out last night is a good deal.

its a very good upgrade from you t5, insane upgrade actually.

you get to pay cash, and its better, function wise, than the one your boy had. (you can get that one later so you have this hortilux in place of the MH, and you will add an HPS in your friends rig)

no waiting- you can set that bad boy up tonight!

i also think that what we discussed about those very inexpensive ones- we dont know enough about them to recommend them, so if anyone has personal input on those, we can reevaluate. for now i say we stay away from those.

for now it sounds like you have a plan. i wish i could help you out- i have a lot of soil supplies i am not currently using because im focusing on a hydro grow, i know youd put em to good use!

cant wait to hear you report back after your shopping trip.

I know, Im going to need a shitload of soil when I decide to transplant, any preferences on some bomb soil? SHould I get some perlite as well? If so how do I mix it in, and what percents? 60 % soil 40 % perlite? Yeah I'm excited. Hope the same guy is in there when I go back. Hey I was also curious I know like at different head shops you can barter and maybe get them to knock off about 10-20 % off the prices, does the same thing apply to local garden shops? If so ill try it up, maybe get it for a bit cheaper, lemme know player.

wussup bro, in my opinion i'm always a bit weary of purchasing lighting equipment from online, ESPECIALLY if if seems like a too good to be true. the policia are smart and lazy, and that makes a dangerous combination. go get that ballast from your local grow shop, the bulb in itself is worth 100 bucks, your getting the ballast for 100 and some change, GET IT, you will be pleased with your purchase. also, check with your shopkeeper about canna products, see if they carry it, its kinda pricey at first, but it lasts a long time and the results are phenomenal! its a coco medium (soil) and organic 2 part fert line but you use the same solution through veg AND bloom, with a couple additives towards the end of bloom. the coco has beneficial bacteria and is ultra absorbant, but also drains well, its a dutch miracle! anywas see if they have it first, then come ask questions:-D oh and thanks for the rep points you guys, i'll be returning the favor ;-)

i guess feel your man out, i think that grow shop owners are a bit more business minded- in the fact that their prices are based on profit margins and normal retail markups.
Smoke shops will get a pipe for 10 dollars, mark it insanely high and know that they can knock it down 20 bucks and stll make an insane profit. Their prices arent really calculated as much as grow shops are. That 20% is designed to be knocked off initially to intice the buyer into thinking they are getting a fatty deal.

well your mixing depends on your soil.

soil wise- lets get a couple other peoples inputs before we get to any conclusions. Ive heard good things about Ocean Forest by FoxFarm. Personally i use mushroom compost in my outdoor greenhouse- its a type of soil not a brand, so whatever brand you can find. Most garden centers (home depot, lowes) in my area have it, so grow shops should too. Is a very rich soil that has tons of good stuff for your plants in it.

Those are 2 recommendations, maybe look a little into your strain, and lets see what other folks have to say, G. Father, you out there?

ilike I said ealier, I use canna coco as a growing medium, its great because it drains really well without having to worry about mixing perlite. it also has the ability to absorb and retain water and nutriens, and leave more available to the plant, when it needs it. that's how you can use the same solution through growth And bloom, the coco fibers only provide what the plant needs, and it about 90% organic, which is good because you get the scents and flavors of organics, with a little added manmade bonus at the end (bioboost). its a 2 part solution with additives, rhizotonic, helps prevent stress (more ratio of females to males) and its also a root stimulant, I have roots growing out of my pots into my waste! another additive to that line is cannazyme, which actually helps the plant convert dead root material into sugars for the palnt to eat! i've used many different fert lines, techniques but man I swear by this stuff now, everything is simple and laid out. oh and I forgot the best part, the whole line combined actually lets the plant regulate its own PH, I haven't tested my levels in I don't know how long... when I started with canna I was in disbelief, every time I checked the PH of the coco I was between 6-7, every time. canna is the #1 product outside of the states, and the #1 fert of the cannabis cup in amsterdam.

its kinda pricey i'll lay out tht costs for you, also you can re-use the coco they say up to 3 times, but I go up to 5 times. with soil, you need to throw it out and start fresh every time...
canna coco fiber - 20 dollars for a 20lb (or bigger) bag, that can be reused 5 times
canna fert A - 13 dollars
canna fert B - 13 dollars
Rhizotonic - 60 dollars (well worth it)
Cannazyme - 30 dollars

the rhizo and canna are additives that can be added at a later time, the A and B are most important. more additives;

PK 13/14
bio boost

these are for once you are into flower, I don't remember the prices off of the top of my head, but I can update when I get home

so I halfway set it up to check it out. My god that light is BRIGHT, I dunno how Im going to sleep with that puppy on. I'm just going to wait for my g/f to get off work so she can help me finish setting it up, kinda hard manipulating stuff alone. Although when I cranked the puppy on the Ballast was making a pretty loud noise, He said at the store that in should have a small hum but nothing to loud so if that does subside by tomorrow I think ill just take the ballast in and see whats up. Input needed

if your using mylar just seal your closet the best you can, the light should quiet down once it warms up, if it doesn't see if you grow shopdealer will check and make sure the components are ecure inside the ballast...
