Should I use cow poo as a fertilizer? because I have heard a few good things about it being cheap (especially for people with animals), easy to find and apparently its meant to work a treat for you're plants, would anyone be able to shed some light on the matter?

I would,nt because there might be worms and bugs that your plant might not like if you do that I would take panty hose and fill it with dry cow poo and put it in a bucket of water over night.in the morning swish the panty hose around the water then take the sock out of the water then pour the water around your plant.Worm castings are cheap about five U.S dollers.

If its properly composted, an not fresh its ok.
I use about 15-20% cow manure in my soil mix.

I would like to try worm castings, but they dont carry it here in BUMFUCKEGYPT.

composted manure is good. just make sure whatever you add it too, you let it sit prior to putting seedlings or clones in it. i have used it with success before outdoors.

It's great to use and pretty safe even when it's a little fresh since it's already been through an animal and most of the nitrogen is filtered out in the urine.

I grow in straight composted manure and animal carcasses and my plants couldn't be healthier!

compost rich in coffee grounds for me at least works great to amend the nitrogen balance, and I always add poo too my compost but straight poo attracts bugs.

i can see animal carcasses working well because of the nutrients in their bodies, and at HippySmoke, what do you mean by coffee grounds? like ground up coffee or something?

The grounds left over after you brew a pot of coffee.

I've been using cow manure longer than a lot of you have been alive. Not only is it a good fertilizer,it's a great soil conditoner. If it's been composted,it's damned near impossible to over fertilize with it.

Now the real bomb as a fert is chicken manure,but I'm not telling how to use it. It's a family secret.

420G,I used to use carp in my plots. Catch a mess in the fall,throw 'em onto the prospective plot,cover them with dirt,then plow it up for planting in spring. I always felt like I was doing a public service getting those damned things out of the local creeks and rivers.

The local bear population started to boom in the late 80's,so I had to give my carp treatment up. Damned bears would root 'em out as soon I could put them in.

BTW,I like your use for deer. Damned walnut brained pests are overrunning the country,eating crops and causing wrecks and deaths. At least you've found something they're good for besides eating.

Remind me to rant about coyotes and coydogs later.

i think that chicken manure might be a bit acidic, maybe mix it with a few other manures and maybe some potting mix or guano?

they were here long before us just reclaiming what is rightfully theres you should have alittle more respect for mother nature.
