This is a Continuous Work in Progress with a possibility of having multiple grow threads linked from/to this.!!!
been stretched/stunted a bit due to going out of town for 5-11 days at a time on three different occasions. I did not feel comfortable with having everything
on with no one around. I enjoy where I live, so I will not take that risk. Thankfully my roommate did not mind watering for me. The plants did have some sun
light coming in from window an then a 7hr(timer) light schedule when roommate was home. So for the time being the plants have a majority of my time and
hopefully your attention.
Beans: The majority of the beans used in the first grow are bag seed from mid-grade smoke. It could be Train Wreck, I was burning lots of that a while back.
Delicia is from a seed found in some Blue Dream.
Grow Area:
Ghetto Veg/Seedling Box #1:
Around 3/10-15 gathering odd ball things around the place to use as a box or something... I finally settled for the vacuum box I forgot to toss out, cut
it down on side to open it up an lined it with aluminum foil(iknow iknow!?!). So i put this box on a printer table I have had forever
and then took the two unused table leaves from the kitchen table to use as sides. layered the inside face with more foil... then took an old hockey stick
an rigged it up to clamp on the light fixture. At first i cut two holes in the vacuum box to fit the reflector cone on top an have the light facing down on
the kidz. Well read up on RIU some an grabbed some y-splitters well now the reflectors won't work. Damn so I made them holes for nothing!! I clamp the light
on with the y-splitters on an put in the four 23w 2700K CFL's. Turn it on to see what the temps are gonna be like. I use a wired remote digital thermometer
an fix the sensor in the general area. Temps are ok, get up to about 85 max mostly around 78-82f. I have a stationary fan blowing up against the wall to
bounce the air into the grow area/box an then exits out the cut reflector holes. The plants jiggle a bit in the breeze, I guess it works for now.

Ghetto Vegetation Box #2:
I picked up a Uhaul Grand Wardrobe box for $13, thanks Concord Dawn for this idea. Lined the inside with emergency blankets, one almost covers the inside.
At first I have the fan on the floor inside of box blowing up at about a 45 degree angle, 3x 2" passive intake holes on the bottom of 3 sides. I use the
supplied hanger bar to hang my light set-up from. Temps are high with the fan like that, 87-95f. few weeks later I rearrange the fan on clamp it above the
hangar bar, pointing up out of the box to pull the heat out and opened the passive vents to 2.5". That ends up cooling a lot better. Temp high now is about
85f, mostly around 78-82. I still want to make a better ventilation system eventually, I did see the dual window fans and am thinking of rigging up one of
those in place of the back box top flap. Might make the passive vents holes to 3" an put some kind of angled cap to direct the incoming air up more. I'll
use some of the free foot stockings you get at shoe stores as a filter media to prevent any pests from getting in.

Ghetto Flower Box:
Will have the same set-up, except I will paint the inside flat white. I plan to cover each box at night with a contractor 3-mil clean-up bags. I fall
asleep with the TV on all the time... don't want any mishaps!
Grow Style:
The two major styles I am trying are Topping and LST. Delicia is the first plant that was Topped, I tried to follow Uncle Ben's Topping Technique. I have topped a outdoor plant back in 07 that bushed out real nice. Bert & Ernie I put into LST after getting the itch from following Attic's Grow. I may try other techniques in the future.(input topping & LST pics)
Lighting:
Veg Light Cycle - 18/6
Veg CFL's - 6x 26w 6500K
Flower Light Cycle - 12/12
Flower CFL's - 6x 23w 2700k
I did have 4 6500k an 1 2700k in the middle and wanted to try putting in 2 2700k(1 in between each pair of 6500k, then flip-flop color for flower) bulbs but
my power strip outlet spacing is to close together... damn! The light fixture is a 6 outlet power strip that I covered with the left over emergency blanket material. They hang upside down by some small S-hooks an #16 zinc chain. The reflector is a piece of heavyweight poster board cut in half an sits on the back of the power strip about 4-5 inches from bulbs.
Media:
MIRACLE-GRO baby!!! YUP...
2 part Organic Choice Garden Soil (Details Link)
1 part Perlite
1 part Sphagnum Peat Moss
(input pics of pots & soil)
Nutes:
Miracle-Gro Water Soluble Tomato Plant Food - I mostly do foliar feeding with this food. Since the soil has some nutes and time release nutes then I do not want to burn to much! If they do need it then I will dilute an pour.
(input pic of food)
Ventilation:
Intake is passive 3-2.5" holes at bottom center of 3 sides. I plan to cap both in/out side of passive vents with slanted covers. I will have the free stalkings for feet that ya can get from shoe stores, as a filter media. Either in between the caps or over each. (input pic of passive ventilation)
Exhaust is a stationary fan blowing straight out of the top of the grow box, I use 2 towels also one on each side to block the air comin in from side of fan up top. The temps are pretty constant at around 76-82f during the hottest parts of the day. With a bit of AC on also, I gotz to be comfy also!
Water:
I have about 12 gallons of rain water that I have filtered through a brita filter that I rigged up. I did not want to add all the debris from the water
buckets. If an when I run out of rain water I will use filtered tap water that sits for 24+ hours. I might also add some h2O2 every now an then... maybe.
Feedback is welcome, pull up a chair if this interests ya. Thanks for viewing.
Here are a few pictures to hold all of you over for a bit, I have a ton to rename an sort.
Things to do still... add more pics for each section above....
