Crawl Space Grow

As the title says, I'm going to grow in my crawl space again. I grew down here a few yrs ago, and worked out quite well, but now I've made some much needed improvements.

First, let me say the crawl space is only about 3.5ft tall, but I dug a 1ft hole that I plan on filling up with ocean forest soil. The crawl space has a temp of 70-74 throughout the year.

I will be using a 400w HPS light to grow OG Kush feminized, and Violator Kush feminized. I installed a couple light hangers to raise/lower the light as the plants grow.

Here are a couple of pictures of my setup so far. I plan on getting some plywood and build a box around the hole and lay mylar down, too, but here you can get an idea on what I'm dealing with so far.

I'm still a few days away from planting, but it's almost ready!

Very nice. Lots of work, but nice and safe. Under house air is a good souce for cooling.

Thanks dude! It's been a bitch. I had an electrical problem when I first went down there. Had to get that taken care of, then had to clean out the hole from all the old garbage soil, spider webs, etc.

The box I'm building is going to be about 3ft tall. It'll be open all around the top so the air can keep everything cool.

I went out and bought 4 4x4 of plywood that I was cut into 43Lx31H.

From there, I laid out and cut mylar that I wrapped around each piece of plywood.

Next step is to put the plywood around the hole and lay out the soil.

Here are pictures of the grow room complete! The light currently sits 18' away.

I am germinating the OG Kush and Violator Kush tonight.

Wow, the plywood and the mylar really clean up the room. Looks good. I have a crawl space too that I am thinking about using. Kind of a bitch dealing with getting in there and doing all you need to do to keep the plants well.

I have a couple of questions for you. You are doing a soil grow? How are you going to deal with heat, humidity and ventilation? Is that a dehumidifier that I see? That sure will work to get the humidity down, but it will also generate heat. GG

OG Kush has germinated and has been planted! Violator taking a little longer to germinate, but going to keep it going until it's done.

Currently, I have the OG Kush on 24/0 for a day until I can get my timer worked out (doesn't have a hook up for ground).

@cep - grow going great so far! just need violator to germinate!

@GreenGiant - It all depends on your size getting in and out of the crawl space. I am a smaller type dude (5'8 175lbs) and I can move in and our rather easy compared to some of my buddies who are a little bigger and have a tougher time.

I'm using a 100% soil with ocean fox farm ocean forest along with all of their nutes. I'm currently not using the dehumidifier. I left the top of the box open, so the crawl space air can vent the area and the heat from the house can keep it a nice temp. I am in Chicago, and temps can get rather cold, but the crawl space will keep an avg temp of 70-74 :-o

So excited to finally get something planted again!!!!

Here is a picture of the OG Kush that just sprouted! The picture is kinda terrible, you can at least see her

I also just planted the Violator and Chemdog. I wasn't going to grow Chemdog yet, but figured why the hell not.

Finally got a new camera! Here are some pics of the girls. The smaller plant I moved on Saturday (she was too close to the other one). She didn't like the move much, but all her roots were fine, but she must still be in a little shock because the leafs on the bottom aren't doing well. She's strictly on water for a few more days to perk her back up. I started nutes with the OG Kush and she's looking so goooood.

They look healthy, I wouldn't have recommended putting them in the same container cause they will eventually end up fighting for root space.. They are looking very good so far though.

I was hoping to grow another week or so, but decided to flip the switch to 12/12 on Monday. They are just on water for the first couple of feeds, but then mixing in Fox Farm Big Bloom (thought I had Tiger Bloom).

OG Kush vegged for 39 days
Violator Kush vegged for 35 days

@SmeLLyTreeZ - I don't think roots will be fighting each other. My last grow I had 4 growing in the hole, but that was way too much, so I tried 3, but only 2 sprouted. I made the hole a little bigger than last time. So far, so good, but that's what I was most worried about when I started this again.

A week into flowering and the OG Kush has exceeded the size of this area. I have the top of her bent so she doesn't continue to grow past the light..lol

Just a few pictures. I'll be making some modifications over the weekend.
