if you were going to get the 5000k get this.
Ixnay on those Cree spots. They use the same diodes as the 60watters you already have [10 xb-g's, I think] but are only putting out 650 lumens and in a very narrow band [less than 15 degrees +- of 90 degrees.

I busted one open the other day and it has this vertical diffuser around the inner light piece. I was dissapointed.

You can see the difference between heatsinks of a 9.5w [60w][800+ lumens] on the left and the spot on the right. The spots use the larger heatsink shared by the 75w and 100w versions. According to LEDBenchmark the spots are less efficient, which is odd, considering underdriven diodes and a larger heatsink on the spots.

I would never have thought it. that seems inefficient to me but I'm not scientist
Exactly, its a double whammy, using side mounted diodes and then scattering the light at an angle almost perpendicular to the diode itself,
THe 60w versions tend to work better on their sides.

Greengenes did a Par Meter test with these [60w's] and they were showing 400+ umoles 6" from the side and 130 umoles 12" from bulbs hanging in a straight down orientation.

According to LEDBenchmark, the highest lux achieved from the 60w's was directly from the sides.

Bummer that Cree doesn't make a true downward pointing diode bulb.

It is a 9w bulb, I should have made that clear. For 3 clones in a sweat tray it is doing great overnight. Wish I would have used before. Yes the light is best from side, I use a reflector that helps direct it a little more down. I have two that I broke open for bloom side lights, seems a little brighter.
