Never tried what you're asking. If you have the time, your safest bet would be to grow out the current soil clones as mothers. Then, take new clones from the mothers and start those clones in rockwool. Dunno if that's helpful.

Otherwise I would just say use your common sense. If they have a lot of roots already they probably wont like the medium change. If they're still a stick in the dirt i don't see why you couldn't re-dip them in hormone and stick them in rockwool.

i've tried that before. i moved from soil to rockwool and it worked perfectly.

you dont even have to cut the stem and re-clone. what i did was I got the smallest rockwool (1"x1") and cut open one of the sides. i wrapped the rockwool around the stem through the opening. i made sure the hole in the bigger rockwool is big enough (you might have to carve some rockwool out, depending on the size of your roots) and then i just fit the whole thing in the newly dug whole in the big rockwool. sure the roots will be compacted in a tiny area at first but they'll eventually continue growing

good luck!

ps, if you have no idea what i'm talking about let me know and i'll include pictures

I agree with the forementioned statement that you should just use those as mother plants and clone into rockwool later...less room for error...GL!

I think I would try and remove all the soil from the roots before recutting that clone. Just run water over the root ball till all the soil falls off. Then do what the poster above said about cutting a slit down the side of a small rockwool cube. Wrap it around the roots(there shouldn't be many roots cause you said they are 5 days old). Then put it into a bigger cube. It'll shock the plants, but I would think they would recover faster then recutting them and you would probably avoid killing any of them from trying to recut them.

all you gotta do now is insert the whole thing in a bigger rockwool (carve out a deeper hole if you dont have enough room for your roots)

hope this helps. good luck!

so whats the update have you tried it?
I did the transplanting yesterday took me 2 hours for 8 clones. what i did was take 8 of the very small rockwool, cut them in half turn the cup upside down with my hand supporting the stem and i ran my shower, rinsed all the roots without damaging. i used the dip n grow stuff. i put the cleaned roots in the dip n grow hormone put them a half inch below the rockwool so that none of the roots were exposed. then i put the small rockwool in the bigger ones with roots hanging from the small rockwool blocks, yes i did use rockwool soak.

one problem though my clones went through alot of shock 4 of 8 are leaning over what can i get or do to get them out of shock. can i use b-1 to get them up. they are now in the dome for recovery under a heat mat.

i had to go back and dig deep enough holes in the bigger rockwool so that the roots werent bunched together thats probably why they looked so stressed
