Crossbreeding question

I've been lurking the forums for a few months now, the people on RIU seem cool, and I have utilized a lot of great information posted here. I'm fairly new to growing, but had done extensive research before even starting my first grow to make sure I do it right, and to ensure I stay on the correct path towards cultivating quality cannabis. Continuously educating myself on every aspect of this plant is very important to me.

I'm interested in experimenting with cross breeding and if I come up with something good, awesome, if not, it appeases that small part of me that wants to feel like a mad scientist in my personal grow op, I would have fun and enjoy creating something new, and if it comes out terrible , I've gained experience and shits and giggles. I've ordered a few books on breeding cannabis, some very detailed scientific type material.

Anyways, on to my question. I was planning to have a small enclosure, clone two different breeds, do the Colloidal Silver treatments on one and basically just let them be together in the enclosure and let the one bust it's pollen nuts all over the other one and itself, bukakke style. Would I be incorrect in assuming I would get feminized seeds from one (selfed) and a crossbreed from the other? Does this sound like a feasible, simple plan to those with experience?

I know there is much more involved than what I am asking and I'm about to do extensive research in detail on the subject, just wanted to get some thoughts and opinions. I don't really want to get into the genetics I have now(I have currently have 12 strains at the moment at different stages of vegetation), lighting, medium, setups, nutes, etc.

In a nutshell...yep. As long as you only spray CS on one branch of the one you want pollen from. If you spray the whole plant you will not get buds to pollinate.

So yes...you will get fem seed from the CS treated selfed plant and while the other plant will produce a cross, it to will be feminized as the pollen you have produced will be X only and the Y will be absent. So basically you could take and collect that pollen from the CS treated plant and brush it on any female plant and the resulting seed will be Feminized. So there ya go!! Breed on brody!

Depends on the amount of spraying as well. This is a reversed clone of my Blue Dream http://imgur.com/a/ewJTl. Even when I was spraying daily s/he was never putting out exclusively male flowers.

Ah there you go, the clone i sprayed ended up going full balls, good to know this man :) did you end up with many beans out of your clone mate? So you were spraying the whole clone every day?

Robert- progeny are only as prone to hermies as what the parents are. If your parents don't show hermies, its unlikely the progeny will either.

I'll know Friday. Drue had to go stay with a friend so idk yet. It looked like I got a decent number though. I didn't start daily sprayings until a week into floeer I think. Next time will be higher concentration daily sprayings starting a week before the flip.

Ah cool man, keep us posted hey, fingers crossed you get some good beans out of him/her :)

Maybe the reason mine went full balls was because i was using 50ppm CS and sprayed daily for 2 weeks before the flip and 2 weeks afterwards...dunno but am keen to try your way if the clone will put out beans!!

I was trying to get it full male so I could remove it as soon as it was done. I pollinated the fuck out of a pkant that should have only been hit a little in early flower.

Another Question, once the Female's bud has been "knocked up" and let's say this one is not treated with CS/selfed, do I need to keep it separate from my regular flowering area? or does that matter at all? Obviously, I plan on keeping the CS treated and selfed ladies separate already. I was going to try to obtain one of those small counter top sample display grow tents and keep the plants small and in a different room for this purpose.

Well...if you dont want the rest of your grow catching pollen then you have to take precautions but if you have a way to seperate the pollenated plants then do so for a few days. When you are done pollenating them, after a day or two, then you can mist them with water...let them dry then mist them again. Do this a few times before you take the none treated pollenated girl back with the others. She should be safe then.

Have you ever seen a pregnant woman get another woman pregnant?
It's making and collecting the pollen that is the really crucial step. As long as you're careful applying it you shouldn't have any unplanned seeds. Or if you do it's like one or two in the whole crop.

LMFAO!!!! Uhhh NOPE!! If I pollenate indoors I usually pull the chosen one or one's into another flower room and dust them in there and keep them apart for a couple of days...once I feel they are safe to return to the rest of the grow i do exactly that. I have brushed a small amount of pollen on one bud with the rest of the girls....I did end up with a few random seeds here and there on the other plants but not enough to cry bloody murder!!! With fans going, its bound to happen and you know it does not take much to fuck all your girls!!! So I play it safe.

Outdoors on the other hand, I just let the male do his thing and make thousands of babies at a time.....GOT SEEDS??? lol

Making feminized seeds and crosses is great.
Don't let anyone discourage you with negatives.

I have produced thousands of feminized seeds and crosses and never had a problem.

I prefer to spray an entire plant so it has balls every where.

A couple tips:

The sprayed plant will be stunted a bit and behind others. Take the plant you want to sparay, spray it for a week, then put it in 12/12 for another week or so spraying every day. Then put the plants you want pollinated in with the sprayed one.

The sprayed plant or "Trannie" will put out pollen from before the plants are ready until they are ready.

Remove the trannie 4-6 weeks before you plan on picking the other plants.

When I make seeds I let the seeded buds go way past ripe to fatten them up. In my opinion fatter seeds make better plants. I end up tossing the bud material.

Look into storing some pollen for future grows. You can dry it out and freeze it.

I am going to try storing pollen on qtips.
