Cryogenic ISO Extraction, anyone do it?

I was wondering how feasible it would be to use dry ice to dry some weed, and at the same time chill some ISO to cryogenic temperatures, do a nice hour long wash and then use a still to get the oil and reclaim the ISO?

Any knowledge? Ideas?

i'm interested.

so wet trim, buds, sugar leaf?

and could or would ethanol work too?
Everything except the best bud went in, pretty much filled a 3 gal bucket.
Ethanol would be preferable IMO, can't find it around here (yet). If this works well maybe I'll make my own 200 proof

I had a reflux still a long time ago. Gave it away.
The amount of time it takes to run 5 gallons of liquid through a still is painful. It was nearly an 8 hour day, with constant fear of a fire in my house.
Risk vs Reward ratio was low on the reward side. From what i remember i got about 3 liters for each 5 gallon run.

Still looks (not exactly) like this, and yes it's friggin slow.
holy crap! that's awesome. i love ebay!!

so i'm guessing you strain that into the still and then what? what's left in the bottom of the boil chamber is the oil and the ISO gets reclaimed as it cools down?? what temps do you run at?

sorry for all the ?s but this is cool shit. good thread.

Pretty much, yes.
I'll strain it tonight and let it settle for a day or three, then pour off the clear stuff & filter the sludge.
I'm working on getting the temperature zoned in at 80C.

Sample at about 1.5 hr. No green
Also if you look closely you can see bubbles, the CO2 seems to have carbonated the alcoholo_O

About 2 1/3 gal of wash, the bottle on the left is a combination of wash and rinse so it's not a dark as the other two.

Jugs are back lit by grow lights, think that I see a hint of green.
I was waiting for the bubbles to stop before straining (gave up on that after 3 hours), I waited too long maybe......

Will be separating the oil & alcohol in a couple of days.

Don't think I'll be doing that again.:wall:
For the amount of work & product, it wasn't worth it :finger:. A day to do the wash and strain, another day to filter and distill. Just decarbed in the oven @ 220F for 30 minutes (at least it'll be good for edibles), it's cooling in the garage.
