Cupping leaves on my White Rhino!! +Rep for helpful advice!!

I germ'd my WR from seed about 2 weeks ago using a T5. Transplanted it into a small pot w/ Humboldt Soil last week and put it under a 1500W HPS about 18" from the light. Was doing fantastic up until yesterday morning, when I noticed cupping of the leaves. I water about every 2-3 days (when a moisture meter reads almost dry). pH is 6.5. I've got a second WR, but it's been doing great. Does anyone know what this could be from? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and +Rep will be given fo great advice.

I'm having the same issue with my Sour Diesel. My Brain Storm is looking like a champ. SD is cupped. Good foliage, color, no burn, fresh to the touch. I'm running 600w HPS. Lets see what our gurus can tell us.:eyesmoke:

I dont know much about soil so this could be TOTALLY off base, but what is the ph of the run off when you water? I have a problem last grow (hyrdo) where something was causing my root zone PH to be WAY high and this is what i saw.

I have not checked my run-off yet. However, soil is about 6.5

1500 hps is a lot of light for a seedling do you
really mean 150? MH light is better for seedlings
and vegging it could be a heat issue or nutes
are a litter to strong~

my PH is betwen 6.6-6.4
If run off is 6 but your water going in is 6.6-6.4 then the actual root zone ph should be around 5.5 (cause from what i have seen and read the run off is approximately half way between your root zone ph and the water you are putting in) Check the chart I attached.. hope it helps! Could be your root zone PH too low causing a deficiency???

I would check ur run off and make sure you dont have a root zone PH prob??? Not suer if you can just flush likeyou can with rockwool to correct if you did but it seems logical.

If your root zone ph is off then it doesnt matter what you are putting in cause something will not get absorbed like it should.

Also... depending on your answer to if it is 150w or 1500w you may just want to back off the light a little and give your girls a break. Move it up and see what happens.

It is a 1500w, not 150w. My buddy got a boatload of them several years ago for a big op. He stopped using them and passed them on to me. He gave me a 1000w MH, but I dont have a bulb for it yet. I'll go to the grow store and pick one up whenever I put my mature plants into flower. That way I'll have a perpetual op from here on out...

are you air cooling your light? If thats a 1500w bulb and its 18" away from the plants... try moving it up bout a foot and see if they like it. Not sure if that will fix your problem, but it seems like that is pretty close for that wattage... but a more experienced grower should chime in here and confirm it or tell me i am an idiot (which.. who knows... could be! ;)

Just for your info and knowledge, the MH bulb puts out a blue-er spectrum of light and is supposed to help with keeping ur plants shorer and bushier.

Thanks ff

I am not air-cooling the light...I've got my setup in my 1200sq ft basement, so it could use all the heat it can get. Colorado winters are pretty frigid also...the high hasnt been above freezing in over a week at my house. Saw -10 F a few nights ago. I hold my hand under the light just above the WR, and my hand only gets luke-warm. Don't think heat would be the problem...

I am aware of the MH having more light in the blue spectrum, I just didnt rly want to fork out the $$$ for a new 1000w MH bulb, so I just threw the
the HPS over them. I plan on putting up my MH after I put the first half of my plants into flower.

Is this certain plant right under the middle of your light? It looks to me like heat stress...

What are you using for water... ro? could be a trace thing
No, I'm not using RO.

Well water. Not using any softeners or anything though. pH out of the tap is 6.7-7.0, but the soil has dolomite lime added from the factory, which I figured would balance each other.

also if you put a pair of sunglasses in front of your camera you wont get those lines through the pic
Thank you!! +Rep for that!!
