Curing - am I on the right track?

Hi all,

I harvested a few days ago, dried the buds in a dryer till they were quite crispy on the outside.

Then placed them in a tupperware in a cool, dark spot. Overnight they have re-wet, so I guess the moisture from inside the bud is coming out.

The thing that worries me is that they smell like grass clippings. Kind of a grassy hay smell. Is that normal during curing?

yea very normal .....make sure to let em dry out real nice before the tuperware stuff

i actually let mine go in a paper bag for a few days after they get that slight crispy outside ......basically if you check on em all the time you will be ok .....you dont want to let em be moist otherwise you will have hay smell ...and if you dint flush em you really will prlly have hayish smell no matter what

I dry them till the stem snaps.
Then jar them. In 12 hours open and move around.
If real moist.
I even take them back out and spread them on a window screen.
Then when they are dry feeling again.i jar them another 12 hrs.
And repeat over and over.
Till the perfect dryness is reached.
Then back in the jar.burping for 15 minutes every 12 hrs.
For as long as you can.the longer the smoother and better the taste will be.
I dont usually make it more then a weak from that point.
I also do a 2 weak flush. Hope this helps.

I have heard that curing in plastic is bad. Don't remember why. I jar the bud in mason jars. Icure about the same as bossman but don't have a schedule. the bud hang dries 3-5 days till the small twigs snap and the larger bend and snap. then into the jars. following day burp or remove to dry again to the point of snaping. when there is no more moisture I seal the jars and forget about them for about 3 weeks. I do take samples to try after a few weeks

I let the stems dry till they snap (not bend) then jar overnight in a dark place. take them out the next day for like a few minutes.. reorder them in the jar and seal it bck up in the dark again. i repeat that for about 3-5 days or until the "plant" smell is gone. Then I store in a cool dark place for another 3 days. Next, I put the mason jars in the freezer at night then take them out in the day, open for a few minutes then store (still storing in a cool dry place) and repeat that for like 3 nights. This produces the sexiest crispness and smell for me. Then you can store the mason jars as per usual and the buds retain the 'freezer effect.' Good smoke. good luck w/e way you take.

flush 3-1 with water then water only till harvest.

how did you initially dry them? in a clothes dryer? were they "flash" dried? most weed that is speed dried ends up smelling this way. The slower you can dry them out before you start the curing process the better.

I hang mine for two weeks controlling the humidity with fans for as long as possible. then i place them in glass jars opening the jars every week to let out the fumes, but only for a few weeks. They will keep this way for years as long as you keep the jars in the dark. over time you will notice the bud turning from green to goldish brown, this is the chloroplasts breaking down slowly which is what creates the grassy hay smell.

when you flash dry weed it "mummifies" the chloroplasts within the cells and they dont break down in the same way.

HELL no I didn't dry them in a clothes dryer lol!

I built a low-temp dehydrator, it worked pretty well, it dried them nicely in two days. Then when I put in the tupperware they moistened back up in a day.

Right now I am burping every 12 hours, shuffling them around gently. No sign of mold, everything looks like it's going great, except still no nice dank skunky smell, still just smells like grass/hay :(
