Curing Question

I was wondering what would be the best way to cure your bud, to get the most potent and dense bud.

I usualy just take the whole plant and hang it upside down in a closet but i want to try something that would get my buds more dense then airy

What do you guys think?

Curing smooths the smoke out, nothing more. Just like hanging meat in a locker, curing helps break weed down for a better flavor and takes away the harshness of the chlorophyll.

the way i like to do it is you dry your buds in a closet or another dark dry room as you said until the steam of the bud is dry enough to where the steam snaps but doest break in two easily. this way some moisture is left inside. then i like to take the buds and place them in mason jars for a week or two, opening and airing out the jar daily. it is up to you how long you choose to keep you buds in the jar but too long will cause mold

You'll know when its time. I'm usually close after a week. It depends on how big and tight your buds are, so it varies. Just keep them in the dark away from sunlight but with adequate ventilation.

You can store bud in mason jars for 2-3 years. Storing bud in jars does not cause mold - it only becomes moldy if you do not dry them enough. I've smoked weed that was 2 years old and it was great.

I agree with the last guy, once the buds are free of excess moisture they won't develop mold on them in the jars. Now if you only dried them out for two days then put them into mason jars and never opened the jars for two weeks you could have mold, but properly dried cannabis won't mold by itself.

They have said what needed to be said.

Storing is curing without taking the lid off that's the only difference. Once enough moisture has left the bud it is no longer considered curing and has begun its storing stage. Do you cure in separate containers or do you "store" in the same jars you cured in?

hell yea dude. curing is totally different. the point is to let the moisture in the jar even out everywhere especially inside and outside the buds. You need to release the moisture that is in the air of the jar by opening it up for 5 to 10 minutes atleast 4 times a day. The moisture is then replaced and "burped" out again and again until there is not enough moisture left to host mold or bacteria, which will degrade your weed. If you take a plant off and dry it in a vented room and then jar and leave it that is storage, not the same thing at ALL. Theyre dried first to let most of the moisture out along with the chlorophyll while it can. The outside gets crispy inside still has moisture it has to come out at an even rate.

Curing will allow the trichs to ripen allowing for a more potent weed as well as make the smoke smoother. To properly cure it takes at about 3 months. You harvest. Some people cut off the fan leaves to speed things up, but leave them on. The slower you dry your bud, the smoother the smoke. It should take between 1 - 2 weeks to dry your bud to the point that the stem snaps not bends. Manicure bud. Once you reach this point you need to put it into mason jars. For the next one to 2 weeks you should open the jar for one hour each day. The point of the this is to allow moisture that is still in to rehydrate the outter bud and give the bud an overall even dryness. After this, leave your jar sealed in a cool dark space and come back in a couple of months for some primo bud.
