Curing/ Smell

Aloha,
I need a couple experienced growers to hopefully answer a couple questions. First, why do my dried buds smell planty? Will the smell get better as the cure goes on? Also I can't seem to get a straight answer on how long to cure, I know patience is key but I've heard waiting too long can affect the potency. If you have valuable knowledge on curing please pass that shit on!!

Thanks guys

My guess is you jarred it too early. Loads of threads on here about harvesting and curing. Do some research

Your buds will be cured after they reac the proper humidity level, some people will leave them in that state for weeks, months even years.
I cure by putting my buds in a glass jar with a good cover, I then put a Boveda pack in the jars, this does 2 things, it will control the humidity up and down, keeping your buds fresh.
I still have a few jars from 2 and a half years ago and it is still as fresh as when they went in.
This is my method, others have there own, read and learn.

Overdrying your buds prevents a good cure from happening. If you're a beginner, put a hygrometer in with your buds and after a few minutes, read the meter. If you're over 67%, dump the buds in a paper back for 2 - 4 hours and read the hygrometer again.

No one can tell you how long to dry because it's dependent on your drying room temp and humidity, as well as the size and density of your buds. Once you get to the 'cure zone', you can leave the buds in jars for as long as you want, there is no answer for your question "how long to cure".

IMHO - When it comes to getting the best smell from your end product, it's a factor of -
Plant genetics - some smell more and better than others.
Harvest at the proper time - cutting too early will give you smaller, less good smelling buds.
Drying to the proper level
Curing correctly - After a month in the jar the buds should be close to optimum. Drop in a Boveda 63 and seal them tight and they should remain in perfect condition for a year or more.
