Curing straight away?

If you constantly checked for mold & burped very regularly, wouldn't curing straight away, or as soon as the outside goes crispy (after 2/3 days drying), be the best way to retain flavour?

I ask because i did the 'dry til stems snap' thing and the buds went bone dry & lost all taste

yeah technically i suppose it would but that is some very risky bizness just try and leave it 1 less day this time see how that works i think that should help :blsmoke:

I think its best to wait until the outside is crispy, but stems are still wet, then when the buds remoisten/sweat in the jar, to leave the jar open until they go a bit crispy again, and each time you close the jar do it for a bit longer...

When the bud no longer remoistens, keep the jar closed.

Gonna give it a go anyway!

i just did the same thng t worked well the first go round. dry for two three days then move to jars but you have to remember to burp the jar because you will get mold

Your theory is sound but the practical application is a bit risky. The stems are the last part to go dry. If you wait until they snap you have waited too long in my opinion. If you hang to dry until the outside goes dry (I hate that word crispy) and the stems are no longer soft you will be in the ball park. Keep in mind that larger buds will dry slower so there should be plenty of moisture to redistribute once they begin to cure. That way you are less likely to get mold setting into the bud. 1 day less drying is going to add several days to the cure process.

Cool, this assures me that my slightly wet bud i have curing right now, is just taking long to smell good cause it wasn't very dry when i jarred it

I had some small popcorn buds that started to smell really nice when i fondled them to smell the centre, but then i left them out overnight & they lost all smell

The perfect cure seems to be about having the buds slightly moist in the jar, not leaving them out the jars for long periods to dry out, they should naturally dry out slowly by refreshing the air inside the jar then sweating into that fresh air....it seems they need to sweat in thier own juices for a while to really cure

Mmmm my mouth is watering!

That is exactly the point that many people miss. Some are in a hurry and some just don't know any better.

also i find i get a dankier smell if i wait a few extra days to chop.

when i chop, i dont trim right away, i leave most of the fan leaves on except the bigger ones and hang dry.

it takes a bit longer to dry, but a slow dry is what you want anyways.
usually about 4 or 5 days to dry for me, sometimes 6, then i trim the rest and jar up the nugs when the stems are still bendy but not bone dry.
after you do it a few times you start to get a feel for whats right for your plants.
good luck
happy harvesting

Its amazing how much moisture the stems keep in there, at times my buds felt totally dry on the outside, but after a few hours in the jar the jar gets all steamy
Im leaving the jars slighty open so they can breathe when im not there as the buds are still very moist & soft, but when im at home i seal them & let them cure, then check on them every hour or so to check for condensation

I had 2 main plants, one was a strong grower, the other was okay, im really noticing how the strong ones jars smell much fruitier when i burp them

cool, thanks for mentioning that, i may leave them out for a few hours every now & then to keep em a bit brighter
they are going very dark looking... compared to after the chop when they were bright green

any difference on taste?
