Dehydrated fruit or flavour extracts. The alcohol will evaporate leaving a nice taste. i'm trying it.
I liked the vanilla bean idea too. I stole it. LOL!

Sorry Smarty. I guess I kind of stole your thread idea. I only just realized BUT we can work together. Also the other day I bought some small baby food jars to experiment with.
I don't want a whole mason jar full unless its the bomb.

I tried the health shops 1st but found the 'bulk barn' so much better. They have everything. Every kind of dried fruit you can imagine plus many different flavours of pure extracts that were only a few dollars each.

I used the vanilla bean in some NL that I grew. Not much of a smell to begin with. It did add a vanilla smell to it but no taste. At least not discernable to my palate. Vanilla dosent add moisture like a piece of fruit will-just the smell. I have added an orange or lime peel to some bags that were too dry. Smelled good and fluffed them up nice, if you don't leave the peel in too long.

Now that you all have got me thinking, lemon zest would be a better alternative because there is not as much pulp and more essential oils.
Zest works, I just tried it with a plant that I used to propagate seeds from with great results.

What I did:

1. Zested (1) Lemon and (1) Lime with a microplane (Williams-Sonoma | Microplane Gourmet Rasp Grater, Standard)

2. I then put all the zest into a paper towel and folded all the zest into a thin square and taped it closed. (Staples could be used also)

3. I placed the folded paper towel with the zest in the paper bag with the cola while drying. This also eliminated a lot of odor. :hump:

4. When it came time to cure, I made another paper towel with zest and put it in the jar.

5. I waited two weeks while burping the jars, etc.

This stuff smells fantastic. It is GREAT in a vaporizer but I can't really taste the fruit when smoked.:?
