^^^^ If a spider that size jumped at me I would be changing my pants. I'm not fond of snakes or spiders but I'm not afraid of them.

Please do not try to save these. These are almost all we have around my house. Everyday I walk the dog I see at least 3 or 4.

That's my phobia right there.^^^^^

I used to catch them when I was in my teens. I had a huge king snake that we would feed rattlers to every once in a while. We would go out after partying on the far west side of Lancaster CA and cruise the roads for snakes. I never had a phobia until I was almost bit by a Mojave Green. It literally missed my hand by a inch or less. I turned and ran right into my truck, black truck in the dark, and dented my door pretty good. Now I can't even touch any snake. Sad thing is I can't walk my dogs in Griffith Park even due to worry of snake bites to the dogs. I won't camp anywhere those fuckers are either.

I have only seen one black widow in my house but have found a half dozen or so brown widow egg sacks in the yard. We have so many lizards and I think they help keep the bugs under control.

Ive owned snakes and considered breeding before, so that answers half the question. as for spiders, im indifferent.

Well I have to say all you people who live with snakes and spiders deserve a medal  Here in the Uk we have grass snakes but I've never seen one, and we do have big hairy spiders which i'm terrified of but they don't hurt you and are generally chased and eaten by my dog Ted! I would be terrified all the time if I lived where you lived so its just as well its to wet and cold for such creatures.

You gotta do what you gotta do. ;)

I like garter snakes... daddy long legs are fine, but I don't usually think of them as 'sweet' haha.
The Western daddy longlegs are true spiders, family Pholcidae ... and quite pretty imo. Unfortunately they're invasives. The eastern daddy longlegs are a sort of harvestman (a type of whipscorpion) and dog butt ugly imo. cn

I'm not afraid of snakes, I'll gladly catch and handle a non-venomous snake any day. I have a healthy respect for venomous snakes, rattlesnakes are fairly common in my area, and I tend to leave them alone.

Now spiders...I'm terribly afraid of spiders. I don't know why exactly, but they freak me out. I don't go out of my way to kill them though, unless it's a widow...not taking any chances there.
