Showing some age here ... One of my favorite groups from the 80's was a band called "Kansas". They had several hits that made the charts and one of them was "Point of No (Know) Return" ... My how things have changed, yet the meaning of life has not ... Really?
 
yeah hes got the dead prez on a few tracks (and those guys usually have beef) the gooonies and rich mans world are fucking stellar tracks!
 
Good Morning my fellow friends :-) Just taking a few minutes here this morning and placing (5) pics of my (4) girls (Northern Light X Blueberry) as they are now in Day 16 of Flower. If you could, please take a close look at them ( I took the pics about 5 minutes before the 400 watt came on), especially where I am scrogging them. I think I am doing it correctly, but being a newbie, I just want to make sure. As always, your help and comments are greatly appreciated.

i am not a leaf puller but with the bending method (scrog or LST) you want to cut any useless leave, blocking node sites, and basically just taking space. also look for branched that sprout from the underside of bent branches. If the branch isnt going to get light ot will need to work like a bitch for it, cut em off. now is going to be the time for you to manage what gets light and what doesnt..

Thanks Cerberus for the input. Are there any benefits for the leaves that I will be taking off? Can I use those for anything I guess would be in laymans terms.

Have you ever read RICH Budz LST/SCROG technique from Releaf magazine?
 
No I have not. I know that on our next visit to Portland, I want to go to BAM (Books a Million) by the mall and spend some ample time in the "Special Garden" section. I have heard from my CareGiver Libby that they have some great books, and at a great price.

like concentrate products? not that i know of. I put them in my compost pile for my food garden.. that and bubble hash water.. wish i had better uses for these waste products..

well sir, i'll be blunt: next time use larger gauge wire (chicken wire is not really big enough for serious scroggin, i started with snow fencing size and now make mine with 5"x5" concrete reinforcing wire), make larger screens for the individual plants (like twice as large) , or just go with one extra large screen (also twice as large as the size of the footprint of the pots themselves), also if you're gonna rock scrog you may want to consider topping the hell out of them (serious topping, fim'ing, or pinching depending on your feelings towards the various styles of topping) with more veg time to make for more tops and a more robust end result... on the positive side, they look lovely, and probably will yield something delicious for you, just not as much as one would normally expect from a scrog run... nice job for the first time out the gate!!! good luck!

<edit> when dealing with something like scrog, you want to lollipop (remove the bottom 1/3 of the branches) in order to prevent pm, infestations ect as well as to make the plant use all resources to generate quality medical buds... <end edit>
 
hmmm so skip the snow fence and mouve on to 5x5 rebar wire ? havent tried it but 5x5 seems like very large holes No? how long do u veg when scrog like that?
 
generally i fim during veg (after the first two weeks so that they get strong first) as often as possible, all the time, and let veg go for two months... it is not a technique that is for those who are in it for the money, but it produces great yields... also op: now that i re-read your post, you might find it better to look at lst (low stress training technique) to minimize your stretch... basically you bend that sucker to keep it shorter than otherwise... for lst all you need is time and patience... bend a branch lower, tie it down (even twine can work), and keep it that way... readjust from time to time to maintain a shorter profile, and you will not have to worry about your nlb's stretching higher than you want them to go...
 
Thanks so very much NL, as well as everyone else that placed their thoughts. I have to totally agree NL that Chicken Wire is (1) too small being only a hex 1 by 1 and (2) too sharp and is a PITA to get the nodes and leaves through. Being a newbie, I had to do what I had to do this time around, and it took care of the problem at hand. I also know better not to use plastic, as we all know about chemicals, etc. I will be soon :-) having some new growth going on as i enter round 2. One of things that I can take with me thus far is the veg station experience, and build up my knowledge using what I saw, learned etc from my 1st grow :-) It will be better in Round 2, just like it will be even better in Round 3 etc.

I really, heartfelt moment here, want to thank all of you. This means so very much to me to see opinions and knowledge outpour when I post something. You just don;t know how much it means to me to be doing something like growing on a daily basis. If it would not be for this, I prolly would not even get out of bed on a daily basis.

I couldn't agree more Bob! I have come to care for all of you a great deal this past month or so, and couldn't have done this grow so well (so far) without all of you guys....you too Bob, you helped me out more than you realize and it means so much to me. So, thank you all for everything :-)
 
One issue i've found with the SCROG method is that you need a growspace that allows access to each plant. SCROGing in a tent or closet is doable but you will find it difficult to examine plants in the back part of the area. Also, unless you have enough space to run two SCROG chambers you will miss out on on at least one flowering cycle per year as you veg the plant to fill the screen.
 
Woot !! Woot !! I have (2) Red Cherry Berries that are in Hydro and are now showing signs of life !! This morning I just had to take a quick peek-a-boo under the lid, and was in tears when I saw some growth that had finally emerged under the lid. In matter of fact, I yelled to my Bride to come and take a look see to make sure I was not just imagining things :-) She confirmed, and now it appears that these (2) girls ... "Corkie" and "Cadbury" will be delving out some great RCB's meds in the months that lie ahead.

It is always great to have these girls gifted to me, and also to see new life spawning ... and to continue the "gift of life" that I so choose to participate in :-)
