Cut branches repair

On my outdoor plants I had a few branches break off halfway through the summer. It seemed like disease or some bug got into the stem and into the plant. Is there anything anyone could recommend to put on to protect?

You just left it hanging? What did you use? I use that white plumbers teflon tape.tightens gently as i wrap to the tension i want holding the repair

I should have said more detail. The branch was completely cut off. And after a while there was a hole in the middle making me wonder if some bug went down in it.

yeah they can and will...wrap it next time. some people use kitchen seran wrap. i don't, i like the white teflon...there's green garden tape too. you don't need to treat the wound or disinfect it. just wrap it. i don't even wrap busted open branches from supercropping.
