Cut the top of a plant and keep flowering?

I have a plant in flowering that is too tall but not strong enough to hold all the buds and my poles to hold them are not high enough. The top of the plant is ready to be harvested but not really the bottom because I'm only using 400watt and its not getting enough light at the bottom. Can I cut the top of the plant, dry it, and keep the rest to continue flowering without problems?

If you are sure the top buds are mature to harvest then do so, whatever you leave will just get all the energy from the roots and get that much larger. I've grown outdoors for many years and have done this many times, i.e. pop the top colas off and beef up the popcorn.

I would try to lst it first before resorting to that.
Thanks but too late its harvest ready at the top...if I cut the top 2 main stems, about 1 feet from a 4 feet plant, will it continue to buds without much problems?

i agree, let those lil ladies fatten up. outdoors this works great. try to cut on a 45, or some kind of angle so water cant collect there and cause problems

some say muti harvesting helps the underneath growth mature because the plant sense's the end of its life cycle, and the obvious light increase. same kind of thinking behind the prolong dark periods before the chop. they are subjective topics to say the least, deffinately a hot button to destroy a good thread. none of that now. top a way jim, top away

Just make sure it's to the point of maturity you want, generally if 80% of the trichs are cloudy it's ready to pick. Whatever you don't harvest will get beefy, not hurt the plant at all.
