Cutting Whole Plant vs. Cutting Branches

I remember reading that there's an advantage to just cutting the plant at the main stem and letting the whole thing dry upside down, as opposed to cutting branches here and there as the buds mature accordingly. Can anyone please explain again why taking the whole plant is better?

the question wasnt really clear, i cut the whole plant down at once and then cut it down branch by branch to hang and dry, havent heard any one cutting the whole thing down and then hanging it whole to dry, but there are staggered harvests as jn811 is doing, where you cut the branches that are ready to be harvested and let the other ones rippen a little longer, i havent had any monster plants that needed that

taking the whole plant isnt better.. It depends if all of your buds are mature or not. For taller plants staggered harvest is the way to go, it allows lower buds to become mature before harvesting.

I do not know "most people" but of the people I do know I do not know any who cut and hang the entire plant to dry.
I'm with the "Brickmiester" on this one! The only advantage I can think of would be "Slower Drying". Slower really is better - qualitywise!
