How long can a cutting sit in a cup of water w/o any rooting hormone?

until it grows roots and then you put it in what ever grow medium you use... what a question

I jus didn't know how long a cutting would be able to sustain its current state w/o the hormones or if it would even root w/o the hormones. thanx for da info tho.

Thats not correct 24 hours is long enough or you can water log the cutting invite infection or rot.You can drown a cutting also and it will need food eventually.If your cloning you only need to soak it long enough to get it dipped then plant in dirt rockwool or soiless mix faster is better.
