CXB's in 5k or 6500k for VEG only tent?

What would you guys go with for a dedicated VEG spectrum. Anyone have first hand experience with both and liked one over the other?

So why are there 5000 and 6500k lights lol
I too decide between veg and flowering and thought that 6500 would be better . more blue

Ok cool, but having a 4k veg light and a dedicated flowering light... is still a better idea than having a 3500k light for both ? right ? and said flowering light, would be at what kelvin if you had to suggest ? :p:eyesmoke: your'e helping me alot here :joint:

Are you planning on running two separate areas/tents? If same area, why not split it up into 4000k:3000k? Just use 4000k when vegging then both during flower. You can use 1:3 or so since veg doesn't need as much juice plus keeping your output dominantly red.

What lights are you going to run?

Low Kelvin (3000k, 2700k or lower) and high cri (90+) is what you're chasing for flowering. This all pushes the output deeper into the reds which is what we want :)

I have two tents. My flowering tent is under about 1200watts of 3500k cxb's.

I use t5's at 6500k in the corner of my veg tent for seedlings but need a main light to hang for when they are in their one gallons. So veg only in a separate veg tent. Leaning towards 5k... can't see why 4k would be more beneficial.

Same 2x2 tent, So a 4000k veg and enable another 3000k for flowering which will push it into red more and give it more watts in general.
sounds like it's gonna be diy, no problems with that. thanks man!
I'm thinking about x2 4000k cobs at 50 watts (sounds good?) for veg and enabling extra x2 3000k cobs for flowering, which would double the watt. or do I need more watts for that ? 100w for veg sounds low... And i figure since im already paying for shipping taxes etc.. might as well go slightly overkill you know :blsmoke:

I'm running CXB3590 6500k DD bin @73% efficiency 72v chip dimmed down on a HLG-185H-C500A driver
are you sure its not 73.5? you may have made an error when scaling the assumed bin jump efficiency from the assumed efficiency numbers which were extrapolated two years ago at a different operating temperature from a current range never provided by cree. def might be some rounding errors in there, id hate for you to short yourself. :)

I would stick to 5000K...4500k/4700k if you can get some.

5K is about the limit of blue before major photo inhibition starts to occur...25% blue range. And the small amounts additional red will help slightly with root growth as well. 6500k juts too blue and not full enough. 6500k in LED is not the same spectral make up as 6500K in floros that have been used for so long.

Pretty strain dependant imo. I grow mostly indica dom OG crosses and they veg awesome under 3000k. Just popped a stretchy sour diesel and its growing out of the room under 3000k. Busted out an old 5000k cxa3070 module and its noticeably better behaved.

I have been running 5000K CXB3590s and no complaints. I agree with nogod, it is strain dependent. I tend to run lanky sativa doms and avoid bushy indica dom. When in doubt, go with whichever one you can get in a cutting edge bin. Maybe we can get some 4000K CXB3590 in DD at some point. Even with a margin of error working against them, they would be in the 70% efficiency range when dimmed down to 10W. You could follow @REALSTYLES example and donate your AC to a SOCAL HPS grower ;)

So this is my current setup. I start seeds in solo cups under a 4ft 4 tube t5. When they pot up to 1 gallons I move them under my 5k cobs then into 5 gals in the flower tent under 3500K cobs.
