Dairy Doo

Hey there fellow Michiganders! Anyone run Dairy Doo soil before? I am trying out the 201 planting mix, I wasn't sure which to try so decided with the 201 mix since the 301 said it was more of a garden soil. Any tips or comments feel free to say something, Go TIgers!

felt expensive, awesome results outdoors, only used one season. I dont recall the mix.

Yeah it's somewhat pricey. I paid around $11 per cf but if it's quality soil and it's supports a Michigan business, I'm not too upset about it. It felt really light maybe it was a coco blend. I emailed them to see what are some of the ingredients but no response yet.

Does it run pretty hot, I got the 201 mix and this seems hotter than it should. Not a lot of perlite in it but I think it's a coco based soil instead of peat.

Not that I've ever noticed. As soon as my cuttings are rooted they go right into the 301. It is really a good allround potting mix.

How long does it take before your have to supplement or amend some fertilize in the soil?

That's a good question and it obviously depends on different factors like strain, container size and length of growing time.

I can tell you that I have ran straight through (6 week veg, 9 week flower) with no additional amendments and was just fine. I currently top dress my soil (5 gallon bucket) with about 1/2" of straight Dairy Doo compost sometime during the 3rd week of flower. I then water in using water containing 1 tsp/gal molasses. This seems to give the micro-herd a good jolt and then just plain water the rest of the way.

Before I began re-using my soil I would use Kool Bloom or Monster Bloom during the final 3 weeks of flower and that worked great too. Hope this helps, as you know everyone's situation is different and what works for me may not work for everyone but this is my experience with the Doo.

Does the 301 mix contain any perlite? I know it's a garden mix but wasn't sure if it's necessary to add some.

My neighbor hauls semi for dairy doo. He said everyone is still saying 301 is the best shit out there. You use it from veg to flower with no additional nutes? Also can you explain a little more about the 1 tsp/ gallon molasses. Thanks

I just tried 301 and it didn't last all through flower. I top dressed with insect frass and dr earth bloom amendments too. Still some great buds nonetheless.

They sell this anywhere in Detroit (westside)? I got a couple bags of happy frog I was going to use but I don't think it will be enough and Id like to do a side by side with it to compare.

They don't really have a strong presence in Detroit. They have a dealer map, but it won't let me link to it. I swear by their stuff!

So it didn't make it through flower but you got some great buds? Can you please elaborate a little more. I appreciate you making a run and posting the results but what were the factors in making your final conclusion? Did the plant show deficiency in some way?
What were your growing circumstances (container size, strain...)? Thanks! Just trying to understand why you felt it didn't last.

Yes, I have run straight through with dairy doo. I have a pheno of Sour D that presents like an indica and run a perpetual( 4 plants every 3 weeks). I use 5 gallon buckets. 6 weeks veg, 9 weeks flower. I currently top dress a bit of straight doo early in flower and the molasses water I believe just feeds the bacteria in the soil which help break down the organic material into nutrients for the plants.

I'll be your first customer. Seriously. It would be very cool if a local person who is knowledgeable with all the components of a high quality organic soil would market such a product. At the moment, I don't have the time, desire or space to mix and store my soil. I would for sure support a Michigan person doing this and gladly pay $10.95 cu/ft.
