Dark Room II 120's, Lumatek and Superponics setup?

I just started posting here and I have been pricing out my first time setup. I heard a lot of good things about the Secret Jardin Dark Room II 120's. These are 4ft by 4ft and 5 ft tall. Here's what I was thinking:

Dark Room 120 (4x4)
1 Lumatek 600 ballast
600 Lumatek HPS
Vortex 6"inline 450 CFM
Can filter

I was looking at the Superponics 16 systems HERE It looks to be a combo of Deep Water Culture, Top Water Feed and bubble. It has 16 sites on it.

I'm also looking at Fox Farms for nutrients.

Does this look like a good setup? What do you think something like this could yield (average, or low-high)?

Is there anything that I'm missing?

Looks good. You also need timers, a contactor, high-low thermometer (preferably 2), hygrometer, a reflector (or cool tube or air-cooled hood), pH test kit and some pHdown (probably).
Fan speed control would also be a big help, preferably a variac.
A 100x microscope will help determine harvest time.
Also, build a scrog screen.
Expect 400-800 grammes per harvest.
Good luck.

you sia dit was your first grow? too many factors to say how much you will get .. a lot of things can happen and will before your done .. a good ballpark to shoot for is 1/2 gm /watt of light .. you could get more or less .. but just be patient and watch your plants .. they will tell you if your do something wrong ..

happy growin

hey now he could go his whole grow without any problems. highly doubtfull tho since even people who have been growing for years usually run into SOME kind of issue. anyways best of luck to you man :)

sorry bro ... i was making the point that you really cant estimate how much you will get off in a crop and was trying to tell him a good average is 1/2 gram per watt ..

Thanks guys. I think that's probably true; I most probably will run into issues. I was wondering about a ballpark estimate to see if I should invest what I plan to in this setup and how long I could expect to break even.

cues,
Thanks for the other stuff that I didn't list!

slider11111,
I don't know much about how to calculate what's needed or not. I was going to run the Vortex inline like this: ---> COOL INTAKE ----> FAN -----> Sealed Light with 6" vent ------> HOT OUTTAKE ------>. I chose a powerful fan so I can keep the tent cool. is this overkill?

I"m running a 600w lumatec in a 4x4 with a 440cfm fan. Definitely going to want a speed controller for the fan. 16 plants is quite a bit in a 4x4 - if you are doing this go with a zero veg SOG or you will see over crowding and a decline in yield. I find 4 medium plants works well or 9 small plants or 12 tiny - never ran 16 in my 4x4 but I have a feeling it would be overcrowded. I did run 50 in a 4x8 once and it was a total disaster due to crowding.

If you do things well you can expect 1/2lb to 2/3lb. If you perfect everything you might hit a lb per grow - do not expect this the first go around or even the second/third.

you could try filter->light->fan->out .. will save you an extra fan for your filter ...

I agree, this works the best. Filter > light > fan > out. Or Filter > fan > light > out.

You clean all your air, vent your lights, and create negative pressure all with one fan.

Overkill is good, tempered with controllers . When you choose to upgrade, the equpment is there.
Also, I would suggest a filter on the inlet. Even if it's only a bit of the g/f-s tights over the duct. Keeps out spider mites and other nasties.
Would also suggest only 4 plants in that area. Less is more if you get busted. A judge will not listen to weights but simply '4 plants' or '16 plants'. He will see one as personal, the other as dealing.
Variable fan control isn't strictly necessary, it depends upon your ambient temps. You want the intake temp within 10 degrees of the grow-room. If your ambient temp is over 65, no problem.
Something not often mentioned on here is Co2 exchange. If a 4x4 grow cab is in an 8x8 room that is sealed, oxygen is re-used and fresh Co2 is not introduced. Growth is directly related to Co2. It's what plants exist for. You need an open window or similar.

The bigger the fan the more noise you will have if that is an issue? You could always put a muffler on it thou? If you are looking at a fan controller (to slow down the fan speed which in turn brings downs the noise level) make sure it is compatible with the fan?

Noise isn't really an issue for me. I like the suggestion about a filter on the intake to help with mites; good idea. Good posts... I appreciate it!
