Dark Skies 42w cfl ballasts help?

I picked up a couple of 42w cfl wall lamps, the outdoor kind, made by Lights of America. They are the 250w equiv., they are normally 50$ but Home Depot had them on sale for 15! Anyway, they have light sensors to automatically turn on and off when it gets dark, then light. Has anyone ripped one apart and either remote ballasted or bypassed the light sensor? I'd like to pull the guts out, remove the light sensor and put them in a reflective hood. Any help appreciated

That wouldn't be worth your time. It would make much more sense and be much easier to just buy a regular 42w CFL that self-ballasts and then put it in a reflector hood. I would take those lights back if i were you.
