Day 45 Trichomes Question

First post and first grow. I have a couple Alaskan Purples that are on day 45 of flower. However, everything I have read says around 63 days until ready. Ladies have been under a HLG 550 V2 in 3gal pots using slow release organic nutes with FF Ocean Forest. Here is a few pics if anyone could give me some input, should I harvest or go another couple weeks? Thank you in advance!

Let em grow. Looks like the buds could still swell and max out in size and weight. And during that time your trichs will ripen up. Good pics. There's some amber, some milky trichs but much more clear and immature trichs. Youre close!

id give them another 2 weeks or so. quality looks fine but they definitely have some swelling to do. keep in mind, breeder listed flowering times are just guidelines- there are many different phenotypes of any given strain. the plants will tell you when they are ready. keep scoping them every few days
looking pretty good for a first grow

Thanks for the advice! I took a few more pics of the two AP’s and another that’s a bag seed and I don’t have a clue what it is but her buds are darker and not as frosty as the AP’s. All three are @ 45 days.
First three are the AP’s and the last four are bag.

I took these this morning for another site member asking similar questions.

Yes the strain is black.

See how the calyxs are swole and fully engulf the browned pistils.

The first scope pic is that plant. Mostly milky trichs gonna harvest the room tomorrow. (Using $10 USD growers edge clip to phone scope, with camera zoom at 2x-2.5x)

Second scope pic is a sister seedling some milky but more clear trichomes. Its close enough. Still gonna harvest as i need to flip the whole room.

Snoopy808, thanks for your input!

The unknown plant still has lots of white pistils on top and underneath. I wish I knew the strain, it's taste /effects were very similar to some GSC bud I had acquired but right out of the gate it was an aggressive plant and took off after I popped the seed.
I took clones off her and the AP's. I believe they will be ready to flip by the time I chop these three girls.

Good work brother!

Less is more and they are done when they are done no calendar will tell ya-Jitendra an old hippy grower who taught me in my teens

You don't want to be chopping your plants yet especially if they are still showing white pistils, I usually wait until the trichs are cloudy/amber before I chop but I know they still have a way to go if the pistils are white and sticking up.

All the strains I have grown the pistils have shrivelled and turned brown before there is any large formations of amber trichs. But looking at your close up shots there does seem to be a good percentage of amber trichs. Obviously the best way to determine whether a plant is ready for the chop is by looking at the trichs and not the pistils and I usually wait until there are 80% cloudy trichs and 20% amber trichs. Are yours close to those percentages?

New pics of trichomes I took last night below is my AP’s

After bragging on the bag seed plant I found a few surprises...seeds!
I check these girls everyday and yesterday I found a 2-3 seeds showing in two or three lower buds.
I haven’t seen any nanners and all three are females. Can anyone explain the seeds and should I have any worries this late in flower ( 8 wks )?
Below is the trichs on the bag plant and a picture of a couple seeds.

You are right there on being ready, at this point in the grow I wouldnt be concerned, but once finished be sure to wash down room for any pollen that may be floating around.

Nope don’t worry about the seeds.

Id also say you are in the harvest window. At this stage you could cut them now or give them a few more days to ripen. I would still lean towards a few more days.

I'm going to give them another week before chop. I'm new to this and it's probably a dumb question but does pollen have to be present for seeds to appear? I also have clones that I took off this plant is there anything I should be concerned about with these?

The Alaskan Purples have no seeds that I can see. Thanks for the help!!

You are correct in that pollen is needed to make a seed, a viable one. Generally.

There is few hard absolutes with cannabis genetics and the expression of phenotypes or having some odd gene switched on, as is the case with a female plant making a modified stamen to self pollenate.

I have seen plants indoors during winter make a seed or two. And never seen a banana as at the very least will look at all of them if ive nothing scheduled. The seeds were full tiger stripes mature but giving them the squeeze test were hollow. No embryo created.

Cannabis can still confound and amaze experienced growers.
