Day 45 veg. Is it time to switch to 12/12?!!

My first grow, 2 SATIVA plants, day 45-50 veg, should I switch to 12/12 cycle now or I should wait till day 60? Wonder why the sex still not showing ? The plant is about 31 inch tall. Check out the pics.
Please advice me when to switch to 12/12.

I would flip them now. They may double or triple in height in flower. What type/size of light will they be flowered under?

You have to flip them to sex them.
I wouldn't wait any longer.
They're plenty big even if they are a little wispy.
Slap your lights down on them harder to get tighter branching next time.

I have been using 12.5 w , 6500k x 6 LED bulbs, thinking to replace them with 2700k x 6 LED bulbs? What do you think?
I will switch to 12/12 tonigh.

I did an led bulb grow, it did ok.
You should remove the globe from the bulb, it's made of plastic so not so hard. You'll get more lights to your plant that way. Also try to keep your light 2 inches from the plants, don't worry you won't burn anything.

To answer your question, yes do the switc.

I think you'd do far better in the future to grow much smaller plants rather than trees with those particular lights. The lower growth will certainly be sparse (LARF). But yes...switch to the more red spectrum lamps for flower.

Hey thanks for the tips, I just bought three 22 w, 1800 lumin each led bulbs, removed the globes and you are right!! It's shining more now!
Check out the pics. If you see anything not right please let me know. Again thank you all for all the tips. PEACE.

Flip before that thing hits half the height of the light.

Sex will eventually show in veg, weak lights or anything that slows/stunts a plant might extend maturity time, some strains may also be more stubborn then the others but maturity is inevitable during veg.


If you don't have any more height to work with, look up LST and do it BEFORE flipping.

Yes I will have to move the plants to a bigger and higher place. Will do it soon. Thanks.

Sativa takes forever to show sex. When you do start flowering, consider using a shorter lights-on period to help them flower harder.

If ever the plant is too big for the space it will occupy, you can always cut it (TOPPING or FIMMING). remember that your plants can double or even gain 2.5 of their height only 3 weeks after switch to 12/12.à

I just took a look at your picture and you seem to be very close to your max height in that space. Looks like you have 1 foot left. If I was you, I would cut the plant at a little bit less then 1/2 of its current lenght(with the topping of FIMMING technique which you can find tutorials on google), wait 2 weeks and switch to 12/12. If you do that, you can keep your plants in the same space and they would recover in about a week since their root system is already established.

Also as a reference, I had used 12x 1500 lumen phillips bulb from home depot that I bought for 5$ and got a 3.5oz harvest. 4sqf cabinet .It was my first grow, the best weed I have smoked(my friends too) but the buds were very fluffy. Not a big problem though.

You are right ! The space is not enough and I knew that from the beginning that's why I'm gonna make a bigger space soon , leave the plants as they are and start 12/12 tonight. Also I will add 3 more bulbs so total of 6 bulbs 1800 lumin each. Sounds good?
