DB bin only at KB?

It is curious that official CREE distributors like Mouser, Cutter, etc.. have not the DB bin in stock, isn't?
How a non-official Chinese reseller can sell them before the official ones... his father is Mr CREE!!? :lol:
 
KB has them
cutter has them
timber has them
realstyles has them
greengenes has them

the huge chip houses are prob just choking on old inventory

verical had 2-3 bins deep of old stock for a while (and prob still do)

if i was buying cree id wait for the lower voltage ones @welight said are coming out soon

Like I said I'm looking only for official sellers like cutter and mouser and their stock are 0 for Cutter and doesn't exist at Mouser. I ask because I'm curious, that's all!
When I type CXB3590-0000-000N0HDB35G in google I find only Cutter, KB, Ebay seller and a german seller that is not official seller. My question is not where to find but why I don't find them in official seller store. ;)

cutter is your only option then as mouser's prices are ridiculous- $54 is insane when you can buy other chips for 1/3 of the price that are just as efficient
 
The situation as with all Cree leds is that unless a product yields commercial level quantitys Cree dont make publish its availability, what were seeing now is improving yields and DB is coming in dribs and drabs through the supply chain, i expect by next quarter the part will become listed and available all over

Hey @welight ... I know KB is a serious competitor for you concerning LED chips (personnaly I prefer buying to you).. but your opinion on why this guy can have DB bin before you, an official distributor, should be interesting! I am sure you can easily and honnestly clear this unclear market!

Hey there, when you say they are just as efficient are you talking about other 36v leds or other voltages? With my own testing (par map testing) the bridgelux 29D are about 4% less efficient then the DB's at same wattage (ran a BcBlondes prototype with vero 29d's vs the dbs in same fixture, both set at 650 watts)

I got 674 ppfd on a 5x5 at 24" with the DB's and 639 with the veros. (5.4%)
i got 808 ppfd on 4x4 at 24" with the DB's and 787 with the veros (2.6%)

i usually use ELEC mode but on these i used sun mode. (by accident)

(i actually test it at 24.75 inches because the sensor is about .75 of an inch)

i have 1216's coming in this week will do the same test (par maps on 4x4 and 5x5 at 24"), and will report back.

I get my DB's from KB I have 6 left in stock and I had them first lol. I'm in the shadows just watching now waiting too see what happens next in this LED lighting game.

UPS just delivered the new citi 1216 power bcb's. all measurements taken at 24.75 inches

I have a par map from a 275 watt cree db powered 12" x 12" square fixture which scored 252 ppfd on a 5x5 and 312 ppfd on the 4x4 at 272 actual watts

The new unit (shipment we just received) is a 330 watt citi 1216 powered 36" rectangle (cobs are in a row)which scored 258ppfd on 5x5 and 318ppfd on 4x4 with 327 actual watts.

so, not a totally equal comparison since im comparing a square fixture to a rectangle one, and obviously the wattage isnt the same, but you get a good idea about the efficiency's.

The citi has an advantage with the cobs being spaced out further (36" long fixture) and with more total wattage.

But the cree seems to still beat it in efficiency with 1.03 ppfd per watt vs .88 ppfd per watt.

maybe i should redo the test and dim the DB fixture to the same watts as the citi fixture on 75%, so we could get a more accurate reading of the efficiency, the citis are driven at 2100ma and the cree at 1750 so obviously that would effect the efficiency, but the gap is actually quite large (roughly 17% more efficient for cree at these settings, (103-88)/88=.17 if we compared watt to watt the difference would be less, but then again the citi has an advantage with the cobs being spread out....

I like cree and i like citi, they are both good, and work extremely well (we sell both), but so far i am not convinced that veroD's or citi 1216's are as efficient as the cree dbs.

i have a shit load of par maps for gavita(600, 750, 825, 1000, 1150), 1000 watt hps with brand new hortilux and a used Ushio bulb(used bulbs degrade about 20% over 6 months!!!) , as well as the full line up of Bcblondes led grow lights, if youd like me to create a thread with these maps let me know, ill see if i can find the time to put it together, thanks!

in the typical 50-100W range

chips that are more efficient than CXB DB (in no order, some are considerably more efficeint, some only slightly): citi 1818, 1825, 3618, luminus cxm22,27,32, vero29 B C D
chips that are slightly less efficient than CXB DB: citi 1212, citi 1216 (1216 is prob damn close to cree), vero22, prob vero 18 though i havent personally tested

heres a free air test i did a while back. vero B is between C and D (slightly closer to D). i think that 1212 is a gen5 as well though it doesnt say it

Our data doesnt seem to line up that well, how was this data captured? sphere that measures par? what do you mean by "free air"
