When my brother lost his son at the age of 21 he stopped celebrating holidays-all of them. I tried to tell him that holidays are for the living but it fell on deaf ears.
When we lost our daughter I made a point of making sure the rhythm of our life continued no matter how hard that was. I think it is what kept my husband sane but every year when that date comes around depression is right there and moves in with us for a few weeks.
