Dealing with Purple Strains

Hi,

So I just got:
Delicious's Cotton Candy
Delicious's Caramelo (freebie)
Bomb's THC Bomb

Now I do not have much experience with strains that turn purple except about ten years ago. This was an outside grow and I didn't have much control over the temperature.

So what I'm wondering is to turn them purple:

At what point should I start dropping the temp to turn them?
Do you do this a few times throughout or just at the end?

Whats a good temp to drop down to and for how long?

Has anyone had any luck with these strains?

Cold temps at lights off in flowering help the plants show their color. Low 60's High 50's I believe. Maybe into the Low-Mid 50's

Usually the last 2 weeks of flower is when they turn purple for me. I drop my nite temps to around 58.

Cool, thanks.

What do you use for night temps during the rest of the time?
70/68?

Do you also flush during your last two weeks?
If so do you use any products during this time?

My plants have turned purple from the cold, so I'll tell you my setup/timescale.

The plants are at about 65 during the lights on and 58-65 during night cycle.

They started to purple after about 4 weeks being in these conditions.

however it does depend on the strain, as the other strain I am growing has only shown a very small amount of purple after 7 weeks flowering.

Flush yes, I'm not sure why you wouldn't.

Wow so you have them pretty cold the whole time.

I like to use fox farm ocean soil.
For nutes I use connoisseur from AN, bud candy, rhino skin, bud blood, big bud, overdrive and their microbes.
I apply nutes every other time I water, or less (about once a week).
I think because its in soil, I don't see much of a difference whether I flush or not.

If you flush you will normally see the leaves yellow at the end of the grow. The plant puts the nutrients into the buds at the end and leaves second, so it's just like using up the nutes you already put into the leaves for the buds and it auto trims its self a bit :D It can help flavor and smell not to fade so much over time I find, but not a massive difference in end product.

Yeah They're not that cold out of choice, the room was set up in summer months battling hot weather, then it was too cold when winter arrived! Next winter I'll invest in a heater I think because I'm sure these lower temperatures reduce yield. Dense buds though.

you got thc bomb? i want that strain so badly.

making the ambient temps and the soil temp cold (by watering with cool water) will lockout phosphorus and turn the plants purpleish.

Oh man that makes so much sense, about the flushing.

I noticed that if I keep feeding them and using overdrive the plant never yellows, even once mature. I was wondering why it was still so green and alive but not getting any bigger.

Yeah I'm very excited about these purple strains.
