Debating Switching to Flourescents..

as of right now i only have a 400w hps for my crop and two really inefficient flourescents for my seedlings.. i was looking at buying a mh to help in the veg phase but im thinking of just going all flourescents for veg and use the hps for my crop when it begins to flower, allowing me to have the flourescents vegging my next batch :D i plan on using a SCROG/LST combination and be able to have some plants in every stage of the cycle.

thoughts?

Id stick to hps, i find the rigidity of the stems is more, and growth rate faster.
i agree but my main reasoning for getting something additional is to be able to cycle plants and clones and not rely on the one light source. if i were to buy another hps itd be a lot bigger expense.

I use a 4 bulb 54watt vho fixture i bought from lowes for vegging, works great
thanks for the comment. i just like the flexability of the flourescents because they can be used in the very early stages of seedling veg growth and yet still provide enough power for the plants all the way through vegging.

That's how I do it bro, I parked my mh, and veg with cfls, and with a cfl LED combo. I pull 8,9,10 zips per 400 watt hps, with a 30 day cfl veg.

and that seals the deal. next lighting purchase is going to be a quality cfl setup :D cant wait to take this to the next step, its been a long wait lol

im running 2 x 4ft 6 bulb t5's in veg right now.
can veg more plants under 2 of these than you can cfls. and its an easier setup.

not even close to what I can fit under there. thats just all I have transplanted. still have 3 in cups, and about 10 clones that will be put in cups soon.

the growth rate might seem faster because the dominant red spectrum from hps bulbs promote stretching ;)
the blue spectrum promotes more squat plants with tighter internodes bongsmilie

hmmm, if it seems to grow fast, usually that means its getting bigger does it not, isnt that what we want... We are Growers after all, not bonsai artists.
